How much lighter is your aluminum landing gear than the stock gear?

The original weigh 129 grams.
Changing 85 grams.
Right now they are only prototypes!

It'll be interesting to see how they hold up to hard landings. Too stiff and they'll transfer energy to the frames and increase damage to other components, and too thin will make them too brittle, and they'll break on landings that the CF would normally flex on. They look good though -- but will you be able to do sliding autos with 'em?

They decreased as the originals, but are more resistant because they do not break ..

Even though it would add some weight, consider making some skids out of 1/4" (6mm) or 3/8" (10mm) delrin to attach to those struts so that the heli can slip and slide a bit. This is good even if you don't do sliding autos because it'll lessen ground resonance, and help prevent a 'dig' if you're moving horizontally when you touch down.

One of the things mentioned in the manual if your a pilot that tends to land a bit on the heavy handed side is to double up on the carbon skid braces on the bottom side, this will tend to absorb a bit more of the hard landing and won't break the braces as often, it will add a touch of weight but not all that much.

andesp, unique approach, thats' what makes this hobby so great is inovation, neat idea.

We also fly the Rotorworkz G4 and Charley's skid design, nose down to keep the tail out of the dirt. I also remove the rubber skid damper in the front of my RJX Hurrican to give it a slight nose down feel and lifts the tail a bit.

those are nice enough looking, but the transfer of energy is very improtant, as to save the frames, the OEM gears are designed to brake at the G10/ CF straps to save the frames. I think I would want some kind of skid to prevent digging to. Thats the reason behinde our Vertical tail fin being rounded on the bottom, to prevent digging while doing backwards autos

We have tried, even during the crash absorbs the blow very well and does not break, the original problem is that absorbs and when you break, the strength absorbs the residual frame! And sometimes you break.

As soon as I can put pictures to highlight the damage with the original cart.

Remember you don't want the skid to be too small, especially if your flying field surface in anything but billiard smooth. Any landing with a sideways movement will cause it to roll causing more trouble!!
