calling anyone out there who are using Futaba BLS451 servos. I just installed 3 of these in my Freya Evo tonight. The aileron and elevator servos are working great. I am having a problem with the one on the collective. As I move the stick from low to high in a moderate manner, not smashing the sticks but not super slow either, the servo will jump back and then return to where it was. This happens when I move the stick through its full rang over about 5 seconds. It does not seem to be in the same place each time either. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Thanks.

An email to Futaba is on its way.

You're kidding right?

I was just on the phone with a friend that has the bls451 on his stratus and he was telling me EXACTLY the same story. He sais one of his bls451 is jumping back and forth during swash movement.

He's running a 14Mz, not sure about the reciever but probably a 149dp (I can ask tomorrow, he was going to bed when we finished our conversation)

This is not radio (tx/rx) related. All his other birds work flawlessly and he has already swapped the rx. its something on that bird. He also says that when he gets real close with his radio, everything starts to jitter which is something pretty much unbelievable being on PCM.

Just to check I have a smart fly 5.5V regulator and another battery. The same problem only faster. I don't have much faith in these now.

My BLS451s were doing the same, but only when initially started during the range check at the start of each flying session.

It looked to me that the feedback pot just needs to "break-in", if that makes any sense. In the air, even when new, however, they felt fine.

Anyway, my 3 BLS451s have settled down now (about 15+ flights on my Trex600) and are rock solid.

Well his didn't settle in flight as he was jumping all over the place and I think this problem started a few weeks after he first flew them (they were fine then)

If any of my BLS451s acted-up in flight, I would definitely send it in for a check-up/warranty claim.

WhirlyBird500, strongly consider a warranty claim.

Vic,

I did not say all 3 acted up. Just one. I don't trust all 3 now. A 33% trouble rate, really makes you think. 22 years of Futaba stuff and this is the first time anything like this has happened. Just makes you wonder what might happen tot he other 2, thats all.

I'm considering these for my P-Gasser. Will be checking back to see if this is iscolated or a wide spread issue.

P-Gasser Se, Raptor 50 Se Hyper, Raptor 30v2, Trex450se, 3dx450...

BLS451's

160 7-8 minute flights on a 600N and i've had no issues yet......

Had a similar issue with one ACE DS1015, however on final inspection the servo had been binding against the elevator lever (QUK Vmax).

changing to fast

in my opinion the thinks in our hobby are changing to fast, radios, servos, batterys, regulators...

10 or 15 years ago, you staying using the same type of servos, batterys, engine a lot of time... now in 1 year you have to change your equipament to become update.. so in my opinios factories like Futaba had much more time to test new equipament and now a days you have to put something new every day...

Well received a new BLS451 from Futaba yesterday. No explanation no nothing. They even sent back the CD I sent to them with a video showing the glitching. So I don't know what to say. I installed the new servo and it glitched once. I turned the ATV down to 95% and it went away. I cycled the servo for about 45 minutes with no issue.

Is this the case with only the bls451 or is anyone having the same issues with the bls251 for the tail servo?
