Compass Knight 50 > Infinivation style dampners

I haven't seen much discussion regarding the new style dampners from Compass. It would appear that they are the only factory solution for the 8mm spindle, as the regular style dampners are not offered in the 8mm size.

Is anyone using these new style dampners, and if so how are they working out? Do they hold up well?

I was wondering if the original style dampners can be used with the 8mm spindles by drilling them to an 8mm ID?

Guys I've tried some of the clear dampners made for the 8mm spindle. I must say that they are way to stiff for the heli . It will have no dampening at all causing a very bad occilation.

We are testing some more dampners to get the best one for the heli, and it will be included with the model. The ones in the kit now do ok , but we are working to get them better.

What is it about the current O-ringed delrin dampners that needs to be better?

Thanks for the info HC, it's nice to get the straight scoop from a guy that KNOWS!

The stock ones now are 12.8 x 12.8. The ones I favor the most are the 13 x 13's. The ones in the kit are a little to loose of fit in the head. They will not boomstrike and do not fly quite as crisp as the 13 x 13's .

Hi Henry

Stock ones where here anyway 12.3 x 13.0 o ring, Agree they are a little too loose fit in the head, they work, just feel soft in the spindle head area, and softness can be felt in flight..

The ones favored the most are the 13 x 13's. or 12.8 x 13.5

Did you try the 12,8mm x 13.5 Henry?

We are running those and the 13.0 x 13.0, the nice thing about the extra 0.5 preload to the o ring is it don't feel as loose after 15/20 tanks.

Think a 13 x 13.5 might be too hard on the auto side, nod wise..

Thats it!

We are also using plain old O rings on another, will let you know how that goes.. Mate

I've got a couple sets of the new type dampners in 6mm I'll be trying in the spring. Will the different types of O-rings be available separetly??

Rob,

Yes I have flown the 12.8 x 13.5 and I must say that after about 20 flights they become a little lose.

I was wondering about this my 3d has a bit less than 2 gallons and dampers feels a bit soft already.

i have been running the 12.8 x 13.5 since xmas (about 20 flights)

there is a nice soft area (not slop just soft) so it hover and autos nicely at lower rpm speeds but no noticeable nod in elevator tic/tocs etc.

Guys i have been using the K&b green dampeners in my Knight 3d E wiht good results they are a hair to skinny width wise so i used a washer to space them and i have about 30 flights no issues. The brass spacers the align head uses is a perfect fit in the Knight head with the K&B dampeners.

I'm trying to get a good idea of what works with the 8mm spindle, already very happy with the clear dampers with a 6mm spindle.

If the clear dampers are way too stiff for the 8mm spindle, maybe the softer red, or even black material might work. Lots of options to try.

The O-ringed jobs at almost 20 bucks a shot need to be right before they are worth the money IMHO.

I'll try the K & B like Bobby suggests and you can use them on any heli with an 8mm spindle , maybe a shim here or there , you can also get a set(3 pairs from mild to wild) for under $20 , nice deal IMO.

I know these works with Logos too.

Soon we will have one flying but the Knight head is so fast it is the only flybard machine i prefer to fly

Right now there seems be a shortage in Vbar units as soon as they start flowing again it will be flybarless

There might be one @ Pc who knows
