RJX Hobby Hurrican 50 - Xtreme 50 > Grip Bearings Question - All Taken Care Of

I picked up a used Xtreme with only "15 flights" on it and all the bearings in the grips are notchy (all 6 of them). Also there was some type of CA or epoxy on them (I'm guessing what ever it was is the culprit and it somehow got into all of them). Has anyone had problems with their bearings? The reason I figure it is either CA or epoxy is because it was a clear/ almost yellowish color and threadlock would be a different color. I'm trying to figure out why the guy I got this from would have used CA or epoxy on there bearings.

This is a bit frustrating. Apart from that I am very impressed with the Xtreme. I wish I didn't have to wait for parts to get mine in the air.

Must have been the builder of the heli who took CA instead of BB grease... The BB are Nippon Seiki, japanese quality bearings, if I remember correctly.

I have been using Tri-Flo on the grip bearings on all my helis for some time now and not a single failure.Viper I agree, had to be the builder on that one.CA? What?

I have the very first Xtreme that came into the US, and also have 2 Hurrican 50's all with the original thrust bearings, the Hurricans are over a year old with cases of fuel thru them.

Sounds like the CA bunged them up, the bearings are hi quality bearings.

Thanks guys - I couldn't beleive it when I saw it, but there it was in front of me. Looks like I'm ordering parts and waiting a week. I hate the waiting game.

wow... rare for bearings to go out after 15 flights. are you sure its nothing that you did?

Most locktite that I use dries white. Sounds like some locktite run-off... I wouldn't jump to the conclusion of CA or Epoxy. Reason being is because those glues dry a milky yellow color.

It isn't something I did. Like I said I just got this used, from a well known guy in this section who flies increadibly well, and he said it had 15 flights on it. I can't for the life of me figure out why he would put CA or epoxy on these bearings. Threadlock would make more sense if he put way too much on when putting the screws in the end of the spindle - the threadlock I have used in the past usually dries a light blue / white color. This was more of a clear / white color. The grips were notchy, almsot ratcheting when I tried to move them.

Problem solved, and parts are on there way. Thank you Rusty for the great customer service and help!

Mr.Green.

hmm... don't see why a good buddy of mine who has helped me countless times has put CA in the grips.... i guarantee it wasn't CA or Epoxy in the grips. Whatever it was, the problem should have been brought to Rusty in the first place and not go straight to blaming Jason. Don't you think? For the price you got it at, your demands were kind of high and in left field. anyways. I won't be looking back here anymore and reading any PM's regarding this anymore so I thought I would leave my 2 cents and back um one of my good friends... Good luck with that thing.

Justin911,

First of all why would you think he should have gone to the Distributor first??? it appears after some discussions last night with the original owner that it may have been some thread lock that got on the thrust bearing, not uncommon if you apply a bit too much or the screw doesn't go directly into the spindle first shot.

Rusty went way above and beyond and from reading Mr Greens post is shipping him some new bearings and Thrust Bearings, Exceptional customer service from Rusty at RJXofUSA, we are also good friends with the original owner and if he needed an extra flybar or header tank I would have offered the original owner those to supply Mr Green.

Mr. Green, make sure that you oil the new bearings, I use Triflow oil and triflow greese on my Thrust Bearings.
