I have another newbie question pertaining to tail spin and servo postion in regards to the HH gyros. Here's the deal, mine spins in both directions. Because the HH gyro tells the tail to keep on going I spin. How do you fix that with servo position? By changing the postion of the tail servo, you induce pitch one way or the other. So I can see where that would fix a spin in one direction, but how would that effect both? Is there something I'm missing here? Do I try to correct the initial direction of the spin induced by the main at run up and the other direction will take care of itself? Sorry for asking such a dense question, I know you guys are leaps and bounds ahead of my abilities. Any assistance would be helpful.

Thanks for your time in reading,

JC

What are you using for a gyro ?? Is there a reverse switch on it ?? You might need to turn your gain up as well.

On a tail servo change I had the same problem. Switching the gyro from rev. to fwd. fixed it. Make sure linkages for free moving. Oil the tail yoke.

Its the TELEBEE, guessing we're at about 80% on the gain and she has a reverse switch. Guess I could try the switch ans the gain first...

JC, I too have the telebee HH gyro and the gain is only on 55 percent. Try the reverse switch and see what happens. One thing I do to check and see if the gyro is not reversed is hold the heli by the skids, fired it up, NOT FULL BLAST, but maybe 3/8 to 1/2 throttle and move the tail back and forth. The gyro should fight you,(or resist your movement) if it doesn't, its probably reversed.

Doug,

It was the reverse switch. Musta got that wrong (or never got so far as to try it out). Just now getting the free time to start the RADD program, but have noticed with the HH gyro the tail doesn't wander as much as I'm guessing he wrote the instructions for. So still working on applying enough right cyclic to over counter the left drift of the heli on start up. Thank you all very much for you insights and help with my question.

Be deliberate. If you spool up and get the heli light then are slow (or "scared" like me) to go any further it'll drift around like you're saying. Once it gets light take a breath, make a face, say a prayer and and push the stick further to get it in a hover. Be prepared and don't yank the stick back down too hard - just be "gently deliberate" and get it in the air.
