The brand new motor works fine, I plugged it in and it s fast!!

I 'think' it is the ESC not working because the motor runs... But I am still a noob so any advice welcome!!

$50 for a new brushless setup just replace it all and dont look back youll be glad you did.

the brushed motor has been known to take out the ESC

As for brushed ESC there really arent many bad ones there all on the same level. I would try to get a used Esky to get you by.

uppity T-REX snob

I plugged the Motor directly to the battery and it ran... and the ESC is connected, now the motor does not respond at all.
I would then conclude the ESC is what s wrong, no?

Thank you for your help

Either the ESC is toast or there is no signal to the ESC. Maybe you could plug in a servo and make sure your radio is functioning.

Oh and I will have a very slightly used (never flown, only spun up a few times) stock ESC in a few days.

sounds right I was hoping thats how you checked it. Others can tell you the brushed motors do go bad and fry the esc's. I would go the cheapest route cause chances are it will happen again. You might want to burn in new motor at a couple volts then try to blow it out the brushes carbon up when they burn in for the first few times and cause trouble later.

I plugged ESC into channel one and plugged a servo in channel 3 (where ESC is supposed to go) and was able to move the servo. THe ESC is definitely the problem!

THank you very much!!! but again, what ESC BRUSHED should I get???

Thank you!!

What is your budget?

Well... I purchased a used HBK2 for $100 (way too much!!)
It could not fly so I bought another one without electronics:
Another $50

Then it flew a little, dropped $30 on blades and training gear.

Then, I got it into a small crash:
dropped $40 for blades and new servo

then, the battery and the motor died:
dropped $50 for battery and motor

now the esc is fried... so far I ve spent $270 on a HBK2 that has never lifted for more than 5 seconds, if I can get a ESC for less than $30 I would be happy.

Thanks!!

I understand and appreciate your frustration. We have all been there. Some more recently that others. That was me last fall, now things are much better.

At this point I'd recommend evaluating where you are going with this hobby. Some of what you have experienced is expected and unavoidable. However some action could be taken to get going in the right direction. My guidance is to start with the basics, use well know skill building exercises like RADD training as well as quality sim. If you are just starting (and crashing regularly) the skids shouldn't leave the ground.

Next, when considering upgrades and repairs, make selections that will improve serviceability, last longer, and work better. If you were to add $15 dollars to your stated budget, you could get a new brushless motor and ESC. This setup will be more powerful, require very little attention and likely last longer than your heli. If stick with this hobby, you'll be getting this setup sooner rather than later.

Well e, You can get the stock Esky brushed ESC for 14 bucks at HeliDirect if you want to but the stock motor won't last very long and you will be back to square one again. (Buy cheap buy twice)If you go brushless now, 40 or 50 bucks you won't have to buy all over again. If you stay in this hobby for more than a week, it WILL cost some monies in spare parts, no gettin around that, Blades especially, when you are in the novice stages.

Totally agree guys!!!
The little extra cash will make a huge difference, I appreciate the advice.
but...
I just need to know if I can plug a Eflite ESC to my HBK2. The reason beign that Eflite LHS is closer and cheaper than my Esky dealer...
I d rather make the trip to eflite today.

Eflite dealer said they did not have a brushless motor in store so I went with crappy $10 brushed.

Thank you Doug!!!
But I might cut my losses and go to Esky retailer now and get a brushless! After all the brushed motor was just $10

Thanks again!
