Sorry about that, I will post some pictures of the final unit once nearing release date, right now it is still a prototype.

Do you plan on testing this in larger nitro models?it sure would be awsome to convert the t-rex 600n to flybarless on a budget.

The gyro should work fine with nitros, only concern is vibration. So far it has passed the vibration test on bench, so hopefully we will be able to try it out in a nitro soon for the real test.

Last I spoke to my friend, he is talking with the molding company finalizing the case design, shouldn't be long now. Price will be announced soon.

They have. Both the V-Bar and the CSM system are available right now.

Quad rotor heads + release date

Hi All, I'm the developer of the SK360 Digital Flybar.

Final dimensions are 40x30x15mm, and it can be mounted in almost any orientation. Weight is 20 grams.

The gyro can be set up with or without the USB interface (included), but you'll get better results if you use the interface. Most tuning can be done at the field, using just the two built in gain dials. It can use analog or digital servos, latency is just a few milliseconds, and end-to-end precision is 12 bits.

Production is underway and it should be available before the end of March. Price will be less than half that of the v-bar.

Re multi-blades: I just finished testing it with a quad-rotor head on the Trex-450, and after getting the phasing right, it flies very well. The popular low-cost quad head used needed some work though, to get the vibration down from "paint mixer" to "Amsterdam special" (Quads turn out to be 2x as hard to set up as twin blades. Who knew).

The quad Trex has a very solid feel in forward flight, tracks like its’ on rails. It will also hover hands off for about 10 seconds in gusty wind, which is about normal for a flybarless heli with the SK360.

The SK360 has flown a blade cp, x400 (mech mixed), Trex 450 (many configurations), Mini Titan, and Logo 500. Testing is still underway on 30 and 50 size nitros, and the Trex 500. No problems are expected, as it has flown for 6 months and hundreds of flights in many setups, good and bad, with few problems. The rule seems to be that the bigger the rotor disk, the easier tuning is. The Logo 500 for example required no tuning at all from the "starting point" settings.

Mechanically most helis can be converted to flybarless with existing parts, but using a zero-slop swashplate and digital servos really helps. A trex-450 can be converted in about 30 minutes. We will provide instructions for easy conversion of the trex and others. The ideal would be for flybarless heads to be provided for the popular models, but it might take them time to catch up.

When the gyro is available, a link will be provided through a Runryder advert to the website.

Thanks,
Bruce

Thanks for the update, I'm sure many people are eagerly awaiting the release of this and several other flybarless systems that are currently in the works.

From what I read previously this is a 2-axis system so we'll need to maintain a seperate tail gyro as well, correct? Are there any 3-axis designs in the pipeline that would eliminate the need for the extra gyro? Thanks!

Hi Jon, it is a 2-axis gyro so a seperate tail gyro is needed. Currently there is no plan for a 3-axis gyro yet, but you never know.

We can believe you ?
We are on half of March and it will be available in your web store this month ?

1- SK360 are two axis gyro SMM inside a box ? specs, datasheet ?
2- what is the performance of SK360 axial gyros ? like a GY401 ? GY611 ? or DS760 ?
3- It will be necessary an LCD display for programing SK360 ?

4- We must use a CCPM mixer for our CCPM helicopters as Spartan AP2000i or CSM Cyclock mixer ?

AC-3X and Gyrobot from Germany are very expensive.

If SK360 + all kit accesoires works good for less than 300$ you can ship one for me..soon

best regards

Talking about many other versions of flybarless systems, how about the HeliCommand Rigid? This seems to work great too and is also affordable, especially compared to it's features.

At least there seem to be lots of happy customers out there, talking about their experiences in more forum threads than about any other unit.

Cheers,

Joe

Hi,

would this fit in our little Flybarless heli ( 300 class ) ?

Thansk a lot,
Fabien

PS: here is a link to pic + video (without stabilisation system, just tail gyro)

http://www.e-copter.com/portal/arti...hp?lng=en&pg=14

We have designed the head specially for flybarless + blades also. Would be nice to see how it would perform in aerobatics with this ))

300 class flybarless

Hi Fabien,

>would this fit in our little Flybarless heli ( 300 class ) ?

I see no reason why not. It's been flown in a Blade CP, which is a 300 class, with no problems. The weight is only 20 grams, and the size is 40x30x15mm. So it's just a question of if it will fit under the canopy, or have to be mounted underneath.

One other requirement, is that you will need about 8 degrees of cyclic blade pitch motion.
