I've seen more and more websites overseas popping up with the King2 Carbon Fiber edition. I've been really tempted to order one, but really don't need or want the stock radio gear/charger/servos/gyro. Hard to justify spending $300 and then tossing a large percentage of what comes in the box.

Sure is a gorgeous heli though

On the other hand, with the exception of the frame itself, I've got all of the bling that comes with the CF edition, and then some, already installed or on the way for my current HBK 2.

I'll just have to wait for Xtreme to get their CF frame upgrade to market, supposedly in mid-February.

Seems like in this hobby, you can have it your way if you wait long enough and don't care what it costs

I'm looking at the CF options as well. What will most likely happen is that Esky will offer the CF frame parts seperately. Hard to say if the prices will be cost prohibitive. We'll see. Anyway, it appears that by spring we will have 3 different options for frames as follows:

Esky CF Frame - An nice choice, but likely to be expensive. In the pics I've seen, it doesn't appear Esky has done anything to address the CG issue. I was really hoping to see a top mounted battery as that would have been a simple solution. No matter what this thing costs, its not worth it to me unless the CG is addressed.

Xtreme CF Frame - This looks very nice, except for the blue parts. Hopefully they will fix that before ship. Xtreme has also choose to move the battery out front like it should be. This feature alone makes it better than the Esky frame. However, looking at the other Xtreme kits and parts it is undoubtably going to be expensive. At some point you really have to wonder if its better to put the money toward a new kit. The price of this frame set will most likely cause me to think in that direction

Xtreme Frame Stiffener - The kit stiffens the frame in its weakest point behind the motor. It also adds a metal motor mount which is raised above the frame, so there's no cutting required to add larger motors. And the most interesting thing is that it also moves the battery out front which should really help with the CG issues. So far this seems to be the best value and is keeping with the economical spirit of the HBK2.

Yeah, the CF Xtreme frame, they say it'll cost about $65, which isnt bad at all.

I like them all, but like the Xtreme CF frame best.

Yeah I know, I'm well past the point of no return with the current HBK2 as it is. Started with the infamous Blade CP Pro and dumped bucket loads of $ into that money pit just to get it fly, the HBK at least responds well to cash infusions. I've still got the Blade, now converted to a belt drive tail so it will at least fly reasonably consistant, not that I use it much anymore. Also built a hybrid Compy 300/HDX 300. Nice CF frame bought for $25 from Hong Kong and almost a keeper, the downfall being the heavy HDX aluminum head assembly sitting high on a 3mm mainshaft. Got tired of bending mainshafts if the balance got a bit off, forget about any attempts at anything 3D, strain would be way too much for the tiny mainshaft.

The HBK by comparison has been a fabulous little heli. Is it perfect? No, but show me any size RC heli that is. At least with a bit of careful setup and select upgrades it flys as consistant as my Trex 450 SE and I don't have to drive to the flying field to have fun with it. Indoors for winter fun flys it simply can't be beat in my opinion.

If I could buy a barebones CF frame like I did with my original HBK I'd be all over it. As it is, all I need is the CF frame and alloy bearing blocks to have essentially the same thing once its installed on what I already have. If Xtreme doesn't release theirs soon, I may go out in the garage and start making pieces on the mill for my own version of a CF HBK2
