e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > Belt tension HBK2?

Iv'e seen other topics here regarding belt tension and if I repeat those questions, excuse me please.

Is the tension on the belt changed by loosening the 4 screws where the tail boom meets the frame, adjusting to proper tension, then tightening the same screws? And while I am aware that this is a controversial subject, is proper tension where on can push one side of the belt to approx 3/4 of the way to the other side? And is this check done near the pulley where the boom meets the frame or at the tail assembly where the belt is exposed? I hope this thread does not start arguments, as I would like general information for now. Thanks!

Thats how i have mine. It runs fine. Dont worry about arguments. Thats how we figure things out. Just part of life, however i dont think it will start any arguments. I have heard some say they put tape on the boom to keep it from slipping back. I have not had to do this yet.

maybe segregation is a good thing? We all tend to cohort with our own kind.

Yes Bobwho that is a good way it must be good thats how the TREX manual does it. but at the drive gear not the tailbox but I dont mechanically see why it would be different on either end. Your just looking for a certain amount of flex at a run rate so it spins good and doesnt hop off the track but too tight can ruin the belt.

its a little different on the hkb2, its good to tighten it up so the belt goes about 1/2 - 1/4 of the way.

if you didnt know this, the king has a few easy to fix flaws

1. belt likes to come off idlers then get worn out beneath them

2. the timing belt pulley is smaller than the average sized one.
that will make the rudder less rock solid.

but its still a pretty good heli, despite the fact that you have to wait for parts or upgrades being shipped halfway round the country.

I've had great luck with jaghobbies and helidirect.

Mine is solid as it can be. GY401 and Trex tailblades with stock pulley.

tmaxx, The rex tail blades really do help alot, just a lil bigger and smoother, especially when you are using a Telebee gyro like me, I need all the help I can get.

I wish I flew as good as you guys I cant break the tail loose. I have started doing sideways flight that is so cool. Tail stays locked in all flight modes. The only problem I have is I don't think the E-flite s75 junk servo is centering too well after 2 minutes of hover I have to straighten the tail about 10 degrees. thats on a gy240. But I have hovered a whole pack and never touched the left stick the whole time and never got more than 30 degrees off.

I think the gyro is the key god forbid I upgrade the tailservo then I wouldnt have anything to do.

they dont fly till they have a $1000 in them they just simply refuse. I should of gotten the new mini I just thought I could break away from copying everything fender does.

Oh and I forgot how much fun it was to actually assemble a heli I felt like I was puttin an ECO8 together again.

So anyway.......

The belt tension is adjusted by the screws (4) at the junction of tail boom and frame? Yes? And one side of the belt should be able to be pushed toward the other side of belt about 1/2 way or so? I realize that this adjustment is a 'feel thing' and once you get it, you get it. This is my 1st belt driven heli so I'm asking the questons because I don't know Thanks again.

Bob, the four screws do in fact hold the boom in place. They need to be fairly tight to hold it without sliding on you in flight (I hate when that happens)The belt tension is kind of a feel thing, on mine I can only push it in about an eight of an inch, but some guys might keep it looser. ( See Bob, no arguments, Yet)

yes...back on topic...we do that here OCCASIONALLY.....yes you will get a feel for the belt......the trick is to run it as LOOSE as you and the heli can tolerate.....you dont want any slipping or belt slapping on the inside of boom but you dont want it too tight,it will rob LOTS of power from the motor....find the happy medium for your heli and style.....when you spin the main blades by hand with no power...they should rotate freely a few times...if they stop after 1 rev or you can see they are not moving freely..its too tight

Ok were back on track dont forget the lube! Yes it does make the motion easier. Am I the only one that thinks the belts come bone dry and need oiled immediately? ever since I started oiling mine I have had no problems at all. silicone or teflon spray.

Oh Yeah, Big time !! I always use silicone spray. Its not all oily , its a very clean lube. Its just a theory but any lube containing petroleum distillates like WD-40 could in theory slowly eat away at the rubber and then one day when you think life is good "SNAP" Your heli is doing the DEATH SPIN toward the earth.

Tryin' again: And why do you guys insist on using those stupid TREX parts?

Because the lemming-esque LHS owners have them in stock, and a select few of them actually work well.

So, nyah.

Pumping your fist and yelling, "COME ON!!!" does not increase battery charge rate.
