Ahh, let's just agree to disagree on this one. I hate arguing with a fellow axe-wielder. Two different paths to a common destination.

Bass player vs. guitarist. The age-old struggle. Power vs. finesse.

Don't buy a piece of technology you can't program/control.

how will you learn to use it till you buy it????your putting the horse before the cart......thats like saying "dont buy a heli till you are good at flying helis"..because you are gonna crash....well crashings part of the game......."dont buy technology till you know how to use it"......but you have to start somewhere

agreed.....we'll agree to disagree

where I'm from the guy that hangs out with musicians is the singer...the drummer gets SLIGHTLY more respect because at least he has gear to set up.........no matter how many times you tell a singer NOT to point the mic directly at a monitor/speaker...they insist on doing it several times a gig...why is thaT??????????

Shizack, I have been a drummer for 25 years and you have unfairly stereo-typed drummers !! Do you feel as though I am lacking in intelligence ?? You don't have to answer Shizackel!!

I see your point. Perhaps I am being too conservative, here. I've been thining about this relative to music, obviously, and if I took my own advice I would never have gotten a 5-string bass. I can never go back to 4-string now.

Just be aware of what you're getting into, do the research, and know that you will fall off a few times before you ride with confidence.

I really enjoy arguments, especially when I lose. I'm just glad the killing blow came from a fellow picker. The enlightenment is worth the rise in blood pressure.

Wellllll....let's just say some drummers tend toward cro-mag or Neandertal aspects. Doug, I'm sure you're one of the elite, Phil Collins - Neal Peart types. By simple virtue of being an e-heli pilot, you have elevated yourself above the Tommy Lee types.

And keyboard players - put your left hand in your pocket PLEASE!!! We bassists have that part covered and then some. Let the right hand twiddle as necessary.

Wait a minute - we may have the beginnings of the world's first virtual band comprised entirely of e-heli pilots; and all King flyers to boot!

<edit>Who needs a singer? They probably have TRIXes anyway...</edit>

Look at the "appropriateness":
Guitar player: In favor of pushing the envelope with fancy programmable tx (stomp boxes, knobs that go to "11", etc)
Drummer: Use what ya got 'til you need something else (stock tx; pound the skins 'til they pop; if it ain't broke, don't fix it)
Bassist: Just gimme an open slot on the board (stock tx 'til it falls out of the sky)
Keyboard player: What's next?

All musicians are wierd. Name ONE who isn't.

We could all start talking about the infamous TREX or TRIX, and then when enough of us are talking about the TRIX, we could petition Mark Ryder to change the Esky forum to the TREX forum, then the TREX will have TWO forums and then we can ask Mark Ryder if we can have an ESKY forum !!

'd'j'ever notice...every thread seems to devolve into something totally unrelated to the original post, especially once the original isuue is resolved or dismissed? That's one thing I love about this forum. RR gets a deservedly fair beating elsewhere about some things, but this forum seems looser than a drunk's bowels at a chili cook-off. (TMI)

Ahhh...it's all arguing. I recently told our singer, "your job is to look pretty and sing. We'll handle the rest." Singer's a guy.

BTW, I was serious about the virtual band thing. We should collab on a riff, or something...
