| translating autocad 3d /solidworks 3dit doesn't matter what software you use to draw up in 3d, what matters is what software can translate all that data into something useful- IGES is your best bet.
I use catia as well as solidworks (same company), as well as autocad- But i use master cam to create the toolpaths for specific machines with varying axis (3, 4 and 5 axis)
once you have laid out your toolpaths on mastercam, it can generate the g-code for specific machines, or you can make your own machine setup by defining it's axis, motion, speed and tools that it has. and then drop in the code, and viola, the parts start to cut, fully automated, especially when its dropped in Mach3 as the final CNC driver.
there are just varying steps you have to take to get to the finish product that you are looking for.
And we do this all day long, all week long, all year long, day in and day out.. and it works successfully.
just remember to know what speeds you want to cut at based on the material you are cutting.. and keep in mind, slower cutting speeds (IPM)= greater accuracy, higher cutting speed = less accuracy.
a heli is like a marriage, most of the time it works, the rest it don't. |
