toys R us hughes 500 body

Sealerman or anyone else.
I finished a toys R us body and used concept mechs.
It doesn't look as detailed as yours(sealerman) but it flys great!!
NO loops or rolls but it does fly . Check out my gallery.
Since these pics were taken I have done a few more things to it like paint and hiding the ant. but even with the extra weight of the paint it's still ok

Hey Sledhead,
Looks great, get us more pics.
Hey jldesign,
I noticed in your gallery that you used a very small hose to vector the exhaust out the back. Have you had a problems with that size hose? The hose I used is a lot bigger because I was afraid of to much back pressure and a reduction in power and over heating.
Very nice job it would be great to get a bunch of these and fly in formation.

sealerman,

mine was a hawk SE/os32 with the cheapo century black hawk muffler. that muffler was terrible & loud and I didn't really see any problems with the hose BUT it was underpowered with the OS32 IMO. the hose actually muffled the engine a little. it was auto fuel line hose can't remember the ID but it fit tight on. the more I think about it possible length and girth of the tube may or may not add power or less power needed more testing? I sold her to buy a 70size ship.

my little 32 did get warm but it had to be pushing a lot of power to lift these as you know. maybe a larger ID hose would be best and still look cool out the back. again it flew ok (and looks soooo cool) but I had little left for power if it got in trouble. a 39 or 46 would be better and a 50 would be king.

nice work everyone I've been checking out the galleries

would the venture 50 be too long for the AH-6 Little bird? can a .46 fit into the venture 30?

You can put a 50 in the Venture 30 I'm not sure which parts you need but someone told me you can do it. I looked into it when I did my 1st conversion just in case it did not fly with the 32 but I did not need it because the 32 is just fine.

50

the Venture .50 boom is too long.

If you want to upgrade you venture to a .46 get the aluminum ergo mount.

Also get the KSJ heavy spindle - it doesn't bend as easy... slap on some high-lift blades and off you go. I'll be flying mine with the .32 this weekend.

I have built 3 of these conversions and I'm building one now for someone. I have always kept the cockpit and pilots and have had no problems with weight at all.

Hey,
J.R. Venture 30 Mech. I was able to keep the cockpit because of the CCPM. It fits like a glove.

i'm doing one now myself with the ah-6 little bird. the inside has been gutted out. now i'm trying to decide if i want to put my hawk sport mechanics in it and use a .46 or to go with the venture.
how do you guys that have done it already attach the front half to the back half? epoxy? some type of glue? or attahced by a screw mount of some sort?

I found the 32 to be under powered. Go with a 46 or TT50 and Century 560mm blades. These machines are a little porky.

I used several pieces of the plastic from the main blades, dremeled, and small wood screws to attach it. I used black enamel on the heads of the screws to match the fuse. I ended up clearcoating my fuse. I still need to attach the boom though

Some of the guys here are using small bits of carbon fiber, others have used homemade brackets made of other material.

I made these tabs out of fiberglass tape and epoxy. Just use the extra screws that came out of the canopy (seemed like there were plenty).
