A gasser! That's awesome. Probably going to want an extended boom so you can fit longer blades. I think you are going to need the lift! I hope you'll keep us informed. If you havent committed to that engine yet, consider the 30cc Homelite. There are a lot of aftermarket components for it and its well documented you can turn the hell out of it. Some run it at 10,000rpm. I was running 31cc Ryobis at 7600.

Whoops, add another Pantera to the count. I just picked up a NIB kit from eBay. That makes three total for me.

Marty,
Did you do the paint job on the BBC canopys?
I like! New pantera is in the mail to make three.
I would like a turbin, but I will wait for a bit.
We are all sick! Good thing I'm single again and the the cat does not mind the chopper factory!

I'm having Joe at CanopyFX do the BB canopy for me. He's doing one for my OS 61 Big Block. I just picked up my 3rd Pantera kit and am considering making that one an OS 70 Big Block. I have the engine and muffler for that. If I do I will do a canopy for it like this...

Hi Australia,

My gear really isn't on backwards. If you attach the legs so they sweep aft and leave about 30mm of skid aft of the rear leg the heli will be more stable sitting on the ground. We have always done this on the Raptors and it seems to help the Pantera too.

not to mention the manual says to put them on angled back!

My patera is only a few days from being done- I can't wait to get her out and do the break in. I will post pics soon. Do we have a pic/setup forum started for the panteras?

I meant to do that!!!

Yes, page 19 of the manual says to angle them either way to balance the model but recommends the gear be angled to the back to better support the model when the blades are stowed. It's mentioned under "Pro Tips" at the bottom right of the page.

If you put them on facing forward it's a whole lot better for sliding autos, and the tail fin supports the tail nicely.

thank you i think i have a different instruction manual that is very vague so it was hard to understand and i don't think that it has any "pro tips" in it.

Different manual? There is only one and its online.....unless those Twister brand Pantera kits have a printed manual. Otherwise, they don't come with a manual and you download it as a .PDF online. If you got a printed one, you probably should go get the online one and give it a read. No doubt there are other things that have changed and there are a lot of good "pro tips".

My Pantera

Here is my Pantera in it's pre-production colors.
The big difference between the pre-production and the production models is of course the red canopy and it also has black gears instead of white.

Well, I can't say it was an ideal location but between the rain, the cold and the snow, I didn't have a lot of choice. My second Pantera, a Big Block version broke ground today. I hovered my OS.61 powered Pantera in one of the aisles of our manufacturing plant after hours today. I was alone. The needles are set as if I were breaking in the engine as new (it is not) but it behaves well, starts easily and most importantly appears to be quite smooth with a pleasing tone (as much as a 2 stroke can). It required no trim adjustment and the blades are tracking perfectly first time out. I look forward to playing with the throttle/pitch curves, tidying up some wiring and getting outside when the weather cooperates a little better. Anyway, another Pantera is in the air. Pantera #3 is NIB and should be arriving anytime now. I think I'm going to use an OS .70 I have laying around for that one. That'll give me a 50, a 61 and then a 70 powered Pantera. Why you ask? Just because. These machines are sooo much fun!
