Anybody else had problems with Mort of JustCanopies?
I certainly have! Why don´t we do something about it? If we all get together I'm sure that we could find a legal solution. From the posts that I've read and the number of people who seem to be involved, there must be a lot of money at stake. Ok, It´s obvious that Mort has been having problems both medical and bussineswise for some time - I would hate to think that the medical aspect is a smokescreen - but he shouldn't have continued to take our money and not give us the goods. It's tough but that's life. As a first step, I'd suggest that we organize an official visit by the appropriate authorities or indeed a debt recovery agency. If anybody is interested let me know.

this has been going on for a couple years now (maybe 3), and I for one am sick of it, the guy should not be taking people's money if it's going to take him a year or more to get them their canopies..

You guys are reading my post wrong. I am not supporting Mort, I was just suggesting that folks state what happened ALONG with however they feel so that other folks (like me) know the full scoop. I understand this may be an ongoing thing, but it was the first I had heard about it and there was no information as to what had happened. That's all.

I hope that all those who are affected get their money back.

He's reached a level of infamy. The only thing I can offer in sympathy is the fact that some of you who've lost a few hundred to this fellow, your loss has gone to teach other like myself to be wary of this human in a business arena.

I somehow got my canopy from him last year, after about 2 months and several phone calls and sob stories.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones, except the canopy wasnt all that great.

And the guy is back in business, if some of you don't learn from this don't blame anyone but yourselfs. Who on earth is going to send him money when they can't even put out canopys. And are years behind, this guy is one class act. And don't tell me about his hospital bs. If your in the hospital you can still type and talk. Some people just don't give a $h*t about there reputation, or money makes them do crazy things

I am glad you guy warned me about this clown...If i didn't know better i might have ordered one from the guy....I think it a sin too take people money and not give them what they pay for....If he was look for donation then just ask people you never know they may pitch in and throw you a few buxs too help you out..But i down right wrong too steal there money like that....

Don't know Mort either, have every sympathy for a bloke who is poorly, but NONE for an unethical business-person.

He should have stopped accepting orders and advised owners of work-in-progress, as soon as it became apparent there would be a delay.

there's nothing about a cosmetically pretty canopy that falls into the "must" category...also there are several other exponents of the art who advertise here on RR.

Mort is "just another" air-brush artist....however skilled he may be, he doesn't meet his obligations.
Sorry to be harsh, but he shouldn't be masquerading as a vendor when he knows he can't deliver.

Ive been waiting 15 months now for three canopies, I hope what he says on his website is true but he should have given me my money back long ago.
Completly unethical regardless of his personal situation.
The biggest problem is that he really is a nice guy I just don't think he has a clue about business or business ethics.

The guy knows what he is doing and I'm assumming he didn't think there would be so many asking for there money back but it does get old. And when your taking peoples money over a year and a half span its called stealing. Lets blame it on his carelessness and his clueless dealings. Maybe a visit to the big doghouse would be even nicer
