MIA G10 frame set for the 4#3 should be in the mailbox when I get home today, if that goes well, maybe I'll do the CF version for the B...
Going to love the G10 conversion as well and will be a different micro flyer too. As you probably know, the G10 will extend the boom an inch longer and uses direct tail drive. My 4-3B weighs in at 52.1g and the MIA G10 is 54.8g both w/lipo and tbitz heat sink installed. Plus I installed the 2.4 Ghz in the 4-3/G10 as well.

ChineseJade has some good deals on 4#3B parts and conversions so I went a little overboard and ordered another set of 2.4 Ghz electronics for the G10 conversion along with a complete metal rotor head assembly, motor, servos, and main gear from a B version

Looks like when I'm done I'll have three 4#3s in various forms, should be a good indoor flying season this winter

I've actually flown the B outside in light winds and was very surprised at how well it handled it, it actually flys as well, if not better than, an out of the box Blade CP Pro IMO. No, the B doesn't do 3D, but then again the stock CP Pro really isn't capable either...

I learned to fly on a Trex, I learned to crash on a Blade CP...

using "normal RC" Transmiter with a 4#3 ? Expo ?

Hello,

I am going to purchase a 4#3B. I have some questions left.

- Are the MIA upgrades worth it ? What is their web site ?

- Can I use a "real" 2,4 ghz RC transmiter with me 4#3 in order to get all Expo/Dual-rate... goodies of big Graupner or Futaba ?

- If not, is there a way to convert the 4#3B back to FM in order to use my BIG curent Tx Graupner (JR) MC24 ?

many thanks in advance

OH yes... does someone has news about the rumored CP version of the 4#3 called the 4G3 ???

1) for a $100 heli not really, search yahoo
2)NO
3)NO (well yes but it would be throwing lots of $$$ and time at it
4)The 4G3 CP version has been on the cards for ages, no ETA as walkera keep re-releasing old product in 2.4G.
When the 4#3 first came out last year the 4G3 was meant to be out later that year, its 1.5years now and still no 4G3.

The 4#3B has an extent pot on the receiver which is a dual rate.

Thanks for your advices. so I ordered one 4#3B plus a LOT of spare parts and spare motors.

I will fine tune it: I will NOT go brushless, but instead I will try to make it as light as possible (by reducing the weight, I will make life easier for the motors, and therefore reduce the motor over-heat & short life span issue)

ONE QUESTION: I read that some folks have succefully reduced the lengh of the blades (or have made them thinner) in order to increase the rotor RPM. This has 2 main advantages apparently: reduce the motor consumption and make the heli more stable (thanks to higher head speed).
--> is it true ? If YES, then is it better to make the blades shorter or thinner ? And, for the lazy guys like me , are there some smaller blades from other Micro-heli that will be directly at the right size ?

thanks

Yes. I cut about 3-4mm Off of the tip of each blade. It doesnt sound like much, but it helps, a lot. Better tail control, but a little bit slower climb-outs.

So I will also cut 3 - 4mm. If I succeed to reduce significantly the total weight, then it should still be OK with climb out rate :-)

Yup. But remember this is with the main blades.

Why not going for 2 cells ???

Based on my current infos, I think that I really prefer going with the “standard Rx” route (AR6300) than the 1 cell convertion for the 4-1. This will allow me to use my curent Graupner "big programable' Transmiter.

But before I do this, I still have one question: What is the real advantage to go 1 cell rather than 2 cells.

In my understanding, the 2 gr weight advantage on the battery ( 11 gr for 1s400mA instead of may be 13gr for 2s 220 mA) really don’t pay for the complication on the Rx'sconversion and obligation to use a Spektrum Rx, the Servos (and gyros ?) that will not work at full speed/torque, and, more important, the motor that will under 1 cell be less efficient that a similar motor (with lower Kv of course) under 2 cells ?

In addition, under 2s, we can use some very light tail motors like this 1,4 grammes (the weight saved here pay by irself the extra weight of the 2 Lipos! ): http://www.wes-technik.de/English/Motors-Brushless.htm

And also use this type of Falcom Combo at 4,8 grammes for 2 servos + FM Rx. Again, the weight saving pays for the 2s battery.

But since most people go the 1 cell operation route, I must be wrong somewere ? What did I miss ? J

Thanks for your kindness

looks really bad.

I know they claim it CP but not really, the rotors have a fixed pitch and i can't see it going inverted! Also twice the cost of walkera 4#3
