Jr usually comes only with a heavy dut straight servo arms, and the 8717 comes with what?
who are using 8717 in heli like stratus... what are you using as servo arms??

trothle servo

I will use a regulator in my stratus, but usually i use the futaba 9254 servo for trotle.. as this servo are 4,8V i will have to use a step down (same as the gyro servo)

otherwise, i was thinking to put a 8717 in the trotle.. the price is almost the same...

what you guys are using in the trotle?

A 8717JR servo on the throttle is overkill.I run a 6V regulated system with a 9252 on the throttle. An 8717 is an expensive servo and could be much more useful in other places rather then throttle! If you run the 9454 tail servo step it down to be on the safe side.

How about this for throttle:

http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=103111

It's fast, cheap, lightweight, rated at 6V, and probably draws a lots less current than an 8717. Making a mounting adaptor shouldn't be very hard either...

USE LINUX!

You can buy a mini throttle adapter plate from Align. It's what I'm using for my HS81mg!

These are the adaptor plates, fits the HS81 servos perfectly.

I used one of these plates to install a servo for controlling the mixture control with CSM's carbsmart as well.

Could not find HN6050. Are they servo wheels. Need 19mm servo wheels for Stratus.

Why bother with a 9254 for throttle and a step down regulator. For the same price as a 9254 you can get a 8717 and run it on 6v. Also the 8717 will not draw more than a standard servo when used on throttle because there is never a high load on the servo.

The align servo wheels are made specifically for the trex. They may work on a Stratus but not sure.

Why not save a few more bucks and get a hitec 6965?? @.08 and 6v it is more than fast enough. No need for a heavy aluminum heat sink servo on the throttle.

The Align wheels are not big enough for a Stratus.

I have used the 8417 on the throttle but it failed.I think the problem is the metal gears, they transmit too much vibration to the electronics and cause it to fail.

If you read all the info on the BLS servos, they seem to draw just as much power as "regular" digital servos and they do not have any more power.
It seems the big selling point is longevity which would make sense with the brushless motor.
I think I will wait awhile until JR and Hitec come out with these and then the price will be a bit more palatable
Nothing wrong with Futaba, just usually costs a bit more. Well worth it to many

Not knocking the brushless servo's but how many servo's wear out the brushes,it's usually something else that fails in the servo.

I just put a BLS 251 on the tail. I'm using a GY611 to drive it. I went with brushless because:

1) No brushes. I know, your thinking Duh, this guys a rocket scientist but,..... The real issue is arcing. Get rid of the brushess get rid of the arcing. Now, you should be able to get the gain a little higher with out frying the servo, inducing hunting due to the servo.

2)Power. We use brushless motors in our helis, because... they are more powerful than comparable brushed???? Yes? No? I'm going with yes. Anyway, I think that these servos are under-rated. I attempted to turn the servo arm on the BLS251 with the power on, and the heli moved. It felt more solid than any servo that I have ever run. And it didn't make that humming sound that all of my other servos make when you move the stick while attempting to hold the servo horn.

3)Longevity. I have had motors burn out on servos, well before their time. Tail servos are a prime example. I have had three tail servos burn out, and that was before I could spell "three dee".With more and more servos being driven directly through an electronic device of some sort and not the stick on the transmitter. The speed of these servos are actually getting a workout. You have governers on your throttle, gyro on your tail, and now flybarless on your swash.

On the other hand, there is leading edge and bleeding edge. That would be bleeding with two $$! And only time will tell.

I'd rather be flying

Yes, I really like the idea of the 251 on the tail. But add the price of the 611 and 251! They need to be a combo. Still using 601 and 9251.
As far as the rest I would be interested in with whatever performs the best right now.

throttle servo

Has anyone tested BLS 451 for throttle servo. I guess BLS 251 can't be used with GV-1.

Nope, I wouldn't do it, wrong frame rate. The gv1 doesn't like a fast servo, a 9202 0r 9252 will be just fine for the gv1.
