Wow - this frame is really building up nice!
I am really liking this frame. The only issue I have is that it is not as bling bling as carbon fiber, and it doesn't look as cool as the silver G-10 Align Frame. But most of the frame is covered by the canopy anyway!!
I do like G-10 in that it doesn't conduct electricity like carbon fiber, and therefore it is not prone to glitching. A very strong point in favor of G-10. I decided to go with Align's frame braces at the landing gear mounting points instead of the ones from Rotorworkz. Up front this heli is very strong and rigid. This heli is building into an incredibly strong, rigid frame.
The 2mm frame sides came in at 28 gms heavier per side than the 1.6 Align G-10. That's only 2 ounces total, but the tradeoff is a far more rigid, stronger frame. You should see it and hold it and try to twist it and move it around, words can not do justice to how much stiffer this thing is. Structural integrity is extremely important to high performance such that all the power is transmitted to the main blades and tail and not used to generate flex.
I only wish someone made a similar frame brace as the one up front for the engine mounts. The way the frame sticks out at that point lends itself to bending. The 2mm frame goes a long way in stiffening it, but a brace there would do wonders to strengthen that area which would help to reduce vibrations.
Not only is this frame building up strong, but so far the alignment is great too. Right now that main shaft falls right into place under its own weight, a testament to Rotorworkz’ quality.

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend, It was a good trade! |
