anyone want to splice a 10k potentiometer in series with the gain wire Im almost positive this would work. If I have some extra servo wires I could make one hey doug wire a pot on those wires I sent you with the bcpp. and plug it in line call it a gain pot the gyro should never know.

tryan, Sounds like it would work, if I had a 401 I would get a 10 k potentiometer and try it for real. My cheasy Telebee has a gain on the gyro and a remote lead. But what does the Delay setting mean on the 401, isn't that gain related ???

The delay setting softens the bounce and or rebound of the tail at the end of quick rudder inputs.

the delay does effect gain just dont know to what extent when using a digital servo you have to take all delay out. I just dont know what the thing will do without satisfying the gain voltage I would assume with no voltage it will have no gain. Dont quote me on that its an assumption.

another thing to try would be putting the gain in channel five on the reciever giving it full gain like normal and cranking up the delay to stop the tail from wagging.

taken from manual
Control Delay Trimmer (DELAY)
Rudder control signal operation speed trimmer. Conversely, to stop hunting, characteristics
can be improved by adjusting the delay. When the trimmer is turned clockwise,
the delay increases.
•When using high-speed servos such as a digital servo, set the delay trimmer to "0".

Yes, yes. I think you could do all that plus move the ball joint on the servo to further decrease the throw of the servo ergo mechanically reducing the gain if you had to. Damn I hope Chewy appreciates all the work we did for him tonite ! WOW, I just want to keep him from making that Friggin noise !

My advice for what its worth would be if you want to stay with the stock setup forget the 401.Either swap it with someone for a 240 or buy another cheaper gyro.I have both and the 240 is the one you need as it is not worth the trouble trying to make 401 work with the stock setup.cheers.

Hi guys, finally got a chance to check the comp. again.
Man, I definitely appreciate all the work you guys put into this discussion. I am making that noise, only a little.
That info was wonderful, talking me through what can and cannot be with the 401. Just means I'll do some serious thinking about cost/benefit ration and what I can afford. I'll probably take the plunge for the radio, but might get a Teleebee gyro first to delay the ineveitable.
Again, thanks everyone, and continue discussing if there is anything to add.

Going broke and OK with it.
