I have heard that some people install a visual/audible voltage sensor on their Heli to announce when the voltage has dropped a specified percentage to prevent excess discharge (hehe, excess discharge).

Is this common practice or do most of you prefer the timed flight method?

Recommendations for purchase and installation of said sensor would be great.

i've also heard of this, but not too sure'bout it, be cautious though during installation, check and recheck CG on both planes, may affect flight... i go with the timed flight, i stop when when heli will not hold or get into a hover... some guys that compete include said feature in their setup, others just because they want to, yeah whatever...best to keep it simple, forget all the bling, only if you want to, and fly right...i like to tinker around and see if whatever i'm playing with will work and if it doesn't, oh well i tried...i hate when someone tells me i can't or it will not work...try it out for yourself and see what happens, learning is achieved by trial and error... like me i'm rebuilding a 26 yr old heli, a mantis...hope you get the answers you're looking for, in my short time in this forum, i've come across loads of great info from a great bunch of guys...good luck

i suck at this, but having the time of my life with it!

Thanks for the reply Thrstrmech.

I wasn't considering it as much bling as an investment to protect my supply of Li-Po's. Not sure I trust myself with the timed flight or for that matter having the inherent ability to "feel" the loss of power as many that have been flying for some time seem to be able to do.

I was looking at this one to compliment my collection of FMA batteries and Cellpro.

My ESC has a low voltage cut off but I'm not sure its working. When the throttle starts to become notibly soft, the pack is down to 10%. I also use a timer. I've been meaning to add a this low voltage protector as it monitors each cell individually.
