Just wondering how do you do auto-rotation on the belt cp? i tried takin it up high and then pulling the throttle switch down, but when i power it up fast the tail twitches hard! oh yea im using the stock Tx.

Oh and anotehr question, like when my heli is up high, i somtimes notice that its more harder to control, and its more harder to bring down, it takes less throttle to hold the heli up in the sky. why is that?

Most use the throttle hold to practice auto's that way in idle-up you still have pitch control with left stick. I dont want to do them myself. And as for the higher the more lift thats just wind for ya it blows harder the higher you go up. I fly in a basin if I get it it up 40ft out of the hole Its hard to get it back down I have had to drop down to 1/4 pitch idle-up almost shut it down on a windy day to get it to drop back down.

yeah its like a kite I couldnt get it to move just hung there. When I first started FF I got it 50ft up and 75ft away and backing up and got nosein on me I almost gave up I just gave forward stick and the forward speed got it going again it was like it was stalled.

omg i was soooo scared today, it go so high i could barly see it, and then i thoguth it would flip over LOL, the heli kept swaying left and right alot with stick movements. i think it was the wind knocking it aorund because i can see the leaves on the tree being pushed by the wind.

I hoped this thread would bring all those that had auto'd thier Eskys.

I've been playing with it in the sim and reading some of the tutorials. I know I'm jumping ahead, but this is one of the recreational activities I do after a couple long workout session with the hovers. The auto is quite facinating to me as the dynamics are quite different than powered flight. I read about some pilots always end every flight with an auto. Its also quite amazing how some pilots can do piros, flips and rolls during the decent all without power. After trying it a number of times on the sim, the one thing that impresses me most is how many pilots can start 75 to 100 feet up and gently set it down right in front of them every time. I may be able get the heli to the ground but I can never predict where it will land.

During the decent you have to apply negative pitch to keep the blade spinning. Since the blades aren't powered, the heli won't be pushed to the ground as you'd expect. Keeping the blades spinning keeps the engery in the blades that gets used up close to the ground. Close the ground you go to positive pitch which makes for a soft landing. Flare too high off the ground and your run out of headspeed drop.

OK, so has anyone here done it with thier HBK2 or Belt CP? If not who will be the first? I know it won't be me

Gregor, I too am fascinated with auto-rotation, yet another aspect of the heli. It's killing me because the stock Esky transmitter doesn't have a throttle-hold feature on it. I would love to take the "auto-challenge" I wonder if there is a way to do it with the stock transmitter ??? I just can't buy a new TX right now, I swore off credit cards 6 months ago and will not use them.

You know you just described the scenario of landing a plank? Power down drop the nose pick up speed till your over the runway then bring the nose up and let the plank gently fall .

The best way to practice autos is to start out low to the ground, 6" to a foot hit t hold and use teh blade energy to set the heli down easy... First you had better be very good at landing with out training gear on your heli... Once you get good and comfortable with that move up to 3' high then to 5'. This is the range when you ned to add just a touch of negitive pitch before the flare... Anything higher and you will have to get really good with holding 0 to -3 pitch before you flare above the ground... They are actually fun to do and the best thing to learn once your off the ground and flying... You never know when your going to need it...
