OK,
I have flown 13 flights on my new Sylphide 90 (awesome!)
I am running the stock paddles, I made the mistake of installing both weights in the paddles $^&%&*^$*!
I can't get the weights out now. The stock paddles seem great in hover, and great in FFF, no pitchyness at all, but my rolls are to slow (at least the down line of the pushover with 1/2 roll down)
Funtechs are hard to find, anyone know where to get them, or a good alternative?

How much expo/DR are you using in that flight mode? I had to increase my roll rate a bit on the Caliber, too, when going to the Rotortechs.

Just start playing with more aileron rate in the radio, but maybe increase the expo so you don't roll too fast on the Slow Roll.

Also, maybe get some more altitude to give more time? Make sure you're milking out as much energy as possible, before pushing to level hover.

Yeah thanks Eric...
I do like the feel of the heli in all aspects accept the roll in the down line. I hate to have to change for just this maneuver! Maybe have a condition only for this?? maybe!

I have tried to call them 3 times and no answer....
But it has been the holiday season, maybe out of town?
I will try again.

Mine are using Funtech as well. Actually I did the followings:

- increase the aileron rate but make sure your servos don't go beyond the limit(in the head). I guess the design of this head is toward stable and self correcting comparing to Caliber. It is easier to get good roll rate in my Caliber 06.

- adjusting the length of the flybar
- using K&S carbon paddle or Funtech ones.

You can refer to the setting of the WC version about the flybar length and paddle.

The last option, use the plastic Hirobo paddles which can let you adjust the weight. I tried this with all leads in with FunKey carbon 695 blades. Roll rate is good.

Doesn't the standard JR paddles have holes in the opposites ends to poke out the weights with something like a pin?

Either way going to decent carbon paddles is a good idea. We prefer the new K&S FAI paddles but suppose the funtechs might also work. The K&S paddles are pricey but they hover really well with still great roll rates.

yes they do, but you can get the weights out. I have drilled the holed bigger, used very small screw drivers, those little suckers do not want to move after they get wedged in their!

Spacey, do you have a link to the paddles you metioned above?
James at OMI does not seem to answer or return calls.

Sure, K&S part #1828 on this page: http://ks.jp.org/ks_e/E_KS/index.html
You may need to click the drop down at the search link and search for the Sylphide .90 products. K&S website is a little funky.

RC Japan should be able to source them for you: https://www.rcjapan.org/Home_.html

Cheers,
Spacey

Haven't been on RR for a while, but thought I'd reply to this.

I've had my Sylphides for ages now and really like them. I've got the Funtech paddles with ZigZaw 700 blades.

Mine is standard apart from I put a Vigor cooling system (shroud and fan) in which is a huge improvement and also a couple of small things. The head is the same although I use a different mixing ratio on the flybar (not the lowest, nor the highest, one of the middle ones). I've played with delta for a bit but didn't notice a difference so put it back to normal.

If you'd like any advice on setting your machine up, let me know.

Thanks,
Si

OK, OMI finally called me back, got a set of funtechs on the way.
They do have them in stock if anyone else needs a set.

Hi.
I here recently, but helicopters I attend already for a long time.
My friend produces such padles, for quality I vouch.http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/me...ct_Code=MAHFB3D
Try.

Those paddles are nice, but wholly unsuited for FAI (unless, perhaps, you have the reflexes and set up style of Curtis or maybe Scott Gray). Far too thin and responsive to expect the model to still sit in a hover.

Erich

$80 shipped, got'um in two days!
40 grams I think.
They do come with flybar weights as well, which is a nice addition I did not know about. I ended up using the weights all the way out, good hover stability, plus plenty of roll for AMA class II maneuver in the down line 1/2 roll.

Here are the ones that Scott Grey uses on his FAI machines (CN262460) and the 3D versions (CN262463) on his 3D machines.
