Could not resist the Century sale and got a Jet Ranger...

Got it on order and looking forward to a winter build project...

I would appreciate any related build photos for ideas...

I ordered the Century 60 sized and will place a stretched Logo 24 with 700mm into it... Will run a 10S4P lipo setup...

Thanks

Have you decided on a paint scheme yet?

Hi bubba01

Here are some photos of the scale subject I am considering...

It is an old beat-up (but flyable) OH-58A from the Minnesota National Guard...

Hi helicenter

Like your build... If its not too much to ask, can you take some detailed photos and post them???

Mechanics mounting, tail rotor, landing gear attachment, your scale subject, and wire cutters...

It would be great to get any links you know of also...

Thanks...

That heli needs love. As a former 58 mech, I'm offended by it's condition. I think I should RePo it!

Hi Autoeject

The MN Guard OH-58 does look a little rough (maybe lack of maintenance funds); I think it will be a challenge to replicate the weathered paint job... I am trying to find a photo of the aircraft when it was younger...

In scale is there an ugliest helicopter category?

That's one sad looking heli! I guess maintenance has been lacking for this bird for a few years huh? Even the chin windows look like they're falling out. Should be a fun project though and good luck. Post some build pictures as you go.

One can only hope and pray that the reason for its appearance is that all available maintenance budget was more wisely spent on the mechanical side.. If not, that is one heli I wouldn't fly in...

Im a 58D mechanic and that only a few year old paint job probably...the CARC paint they use sucks, and as far as the chin bubbles go that is just paint covering the proseal they use to make the installation weatherproof....as far as the wear looks those are typical oilstains around rivet lines and panels.....trust me all 30 of our Delta models got painted 6 months before we went to the desert, we are going on 8 months over here already and by the time these birds see stateside again they will probably have a similar appearance......CARC paint aint supposed to be pretty and flashy anyway

I don't know Joel...my 58's never looked quite that bad even when the paint was flaking off in spots. I agree that the paint was not intended to look pretty but that heli looks rode hard/put away wet.
I definately need to give it one really good preflight before I went up in 'er.
I'd probably go anyhow just because I miss 'em so much.

That is a sweet bird HS10, I love those old beat up helicopters, they have character, in comparison to a nice shiny model.

Question SSMKN2 & Autoeject

We periodically spary CARC at work...

How well do you think it would work to bring my bird in the next time they spray CARC???

Would the CARC finish be too grainy for scale???

I would not want to spray CARC at home because you need a supplied air respirator due to the isocyanides in the paint...

Also: I assume the structure behind the passenger door is an antenna... Can you provide more detail about its function...

The only helicopter I know in detail is the Sikorsky HS-3 series, never had the opprotunity to work on the "sports cars"...

Another question for SSMKN2 & Autoeject

I used rustoleum camo paint on my scale MH-6 "Little Bird" with great results...

Which rustoleum camo paint would you folks think is the closest match if I don't use CARC...

HS10, the color in the middle is the closest....we use it sometimes...depending on the availability of others....the things past the door are antennas, however i dont know which ones they are...almost think they could be older HF antennas....as far as painting with the carc it may turn out ok just dont know if it is heavier than normal paint....and as for the graininess, i dont know....

Hi SSMKN2 & Copter Doctor

I am picking up the paint Saturday... I am using Logo24 (700mm) mechanics so the paint should work great...

Thanks for helping with the paint question (I am somewhat color blind)...

I don't want to be a "pain in the butt", but if you folks don't mind some additional questions...

What are these protrusions??? Lights I hope????

THANKS
