i was looking for some advice on the installation of the gv-1 optical sensor on my benzin. i did not get any responses. i have also seen other people ask a similar question.

i installed the optical sensor on the clutch bell. i have attempted to put pictures in my gallery. i'm a novice, so it may take some time.

Hey Nels.. I hope you enjoy your benzin.. looks like you have the same Josef's ccpm side frame as mine except in black.

This is what mine looks like in purple frame.

I dont have gv-1 in mine although I have one still in the box. I just dont feel the need of it.

Why you donīt use the main engine rotor magnets to read from it? The fan runs close to the fan cover just below your muffler (and far away on the other side). Look for the best range point playing with the sensor position. You must be able to have a max reading of 87% in your GV1 even reading through the fan cover.

Let me be your first hand experience.
I used time ago on a G230RC but I removed it because I donīt need this stuff on a camera ship.
itīs easy for you to confirm if it works or not. Only place your sensor and look at your GV1 display. You will see if you get one, two or no readings.
The G230RC has a place just bellow the exhaust where you can screw a metallic sheet to fix the sensor closely to the fan cover. May be if you use a different engine you must look for a better place for it .

hopefully, i will have both flying by summer.

enjoy your benzin. just make sure you stay warm. then again, flying the benzin should keep you warm and toasty.

i have heard of using the engine rotor magnets. however, i am not mechanically inclined; just learned which end of the screwdriver to hold!

i have hotwings' optical sensor mounted. the pictures are in my gallery. i haven't figured out how to post them in the mesage. maybe some day.

i will look at the engine on my next benzin and see if i can make it work. sounds like a great idea.

Using the flywheel magnets work. I did it in my X-Cell G-230PUH

It's easy to mount in the X-Cell too.

See this for my instructions:

Hovering it looks very stable. I'm waiting for my radio to come back from repairs for the full flight testing.
