I'm getting really good at hovering, starting to do nose in hover but I am having a little difficulty with it. I do really well on the sim. My question is that in real flight the heli (30% MX450, 70%Trex) tilts a little more than on the sim, in real life when I turn the heli it seams like the tail turns on plane with the tilt. This makes it difficult to control for the first second or so. On the sim the heli spins around on a flat plane.
I'm thinking of tilting my tailbox a little to the left so that in hover the tail blades are parallel to the ground. Good Idea or Bad Idea? Thanks, Carlos. Thinking about doing the same with the gyro?

Oops, Bad Idea if I put the tail blades parallel to the ground at hover! I meant the tail shaft parallel to ground or the tail blades perpendicular to the ground.

Bad idea....... Doing that your compensation on the cyclic will also change...... Meaning you have to add elevator input as well..... Because the thrust of the tail doesn't just push to the left, doing that change...... It will also have a veritcal component.......

You cannot expect the the sim to have 100% accuracy...... The sim does reinforce proper stick movement and muscle memory. So your reflex is already stablish before you fly your model......

You still have to learn to adjust to the characteristic of your model...... Observe it very well in flight, the way it behave with your stick movement...... And make the proper adjustment to your input..... Little by little, you will learn to think ahead of what the machine will do.....

I would suggest also, that you try to learn side on first..... Both sides....... You could move up to figure 8, even if you can't hover nose in yet...... But, you have to be very good with your side on hover....... The reason being, is that, in forward flight, the direction of flight is from your left and right, and right and left..... You turn it around in the direction away from you to reverse the direction of flight.......

For nose in, start to learn it at 45* angle...... Your side on skill will play a big role in learning this....... Additionally, it translate better in you head, seeing how, let's say, the left side of the machine looks like at partial nose in, rather than let's say you turn nose in and start thinking, oops, reverse control now..... Well, I do think reverse control when actually doing nose in...... But as I turn to different direction, it's as smooth as a silk, because when I see the left or right side of the machine, I start thingking left or right side of the machine, as I see it, and give the correct input.....

Don't rush it.... It will take some time..... You will feel, it's a very rewarding experience each time you move up one level......

Merry Christmas, and, Enjoy your hobby.....
