Tandem Rotor Helis Vertol Chinook > Air Force CH47 ????????????

I am currently building a TwinRex CH-47. It is one of those kits that use two Trex 450 rotor heads. I wanted to go with the metal heads instead of plastic and the only ones I could get are the newer V2 in blue. I couldn't get any of the older gray heads. I think the blue heads would look kind of strange with a camo paint job on the fuselage. My questing is "is there such thing as an Air Force Chinook" done in blue Air Force colors? If so can you direct me to some pictures so I can copy the paint scheme?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Nope - every single variant I've ever seen had black rotor heads, no matter who was operating it & very few colors other than camo or OD.

The closest match for making that work would probably be the NASA one used for flight control research - it at least had blue trim

Altanta Tandems...

Oh my, We're getting some tandems in the area...

I saw the info on the Tandem T-Rex, watched the video and am very impressed. But I'd go with twin three-blade rotors for that real scale look. The electronics used for tandem stability will take care of all the stability issues except for roll, but I don't think that axis will be hard to master anyway.

If color is a factor, just go with the plastic T-Rex XL heads. Nothing wrong with them and will handle the loads just fine for scale flight.

BTW, I just picked up a Dragonfly Pro with the TH-1 mixer board, another product of Tech Model Products (but out of production). The Twinn Rexx may be next on my list. The Hirobo Vertol tandem is also here waiting for attention. Too many projects...

Heli headcase is right the plastic stock heads for now will more than handle the load and will cause less damage if you opps ...

I am also waiting for Joe to do the research on the multi heads and until then I will get a few flights in on the 2 bladed heads ...less blades to buy during the learning curve on a tandem .

I already have the blue metal heads so the black plastic are not an option unless I want to spend more money. My original post was to keep the cost down by coming up with a color scheme that would look good with the blue metal heads. I think I am going to duplicate the red, white, & blue NASA CH-47.

Paint????

MadDog,

Since you already have the heads, why not just paint them??? It will take a bit of time, but dismantle them and cover all the bearings..(use a hole punch and some masking tape!!) and spray them with a nice flat black model car paint... Nice light coat will do the trick!!!
Just a thought.... the head on my Jet Ranger needed to be grey and now it is!!!!!

Good Luck with you project and looking forward to hearing how it is coming along.... I haven't gone for mine yet... just too many projects in front in all different stages of "build"!!!!

Stan

If there is a cure for this, please don't tell me about it!!!
