e-Gaui Hurricane 200 & 550 - EP100 > Hurricane 200 HS45-HB vs BMS-306BB for Hurricane 200?

Hi,

I just switched from HS-45HB to BMS-306BB servo's. I noticed that both type have there pros. and cons. What do you prefer and why?

I wrote down some advantages and disadvantages myself.

Hitec HS-45HB
  • They seem to fit very well :-)
  • You can mount them on the outside, for easy replacement :-)
  • The servo wires are very long :-(
  • The elevator servo arms hits the case :-(

Blue Bird BMS-306BB
  • They seem to fit, but not as the HS-45HB :-|
  • You have to mount them on the inside :-(
  • The aileron and pitch servo wires are short :-)
  • The elevator servo wire is to short :-(
  • The elevator servo arms hits the frame :-(

Untill now my Hurricane 200 has not flown very well, when I fly forward my heli goes forward-left. When I fly backwards my heli flies backwards-right. I checked everything and replaced a lot. The HS-45HB servo's seem to be ok, but I finally changed to BMS-306BB for a last resort. I hope this will solve my problems.

Give me your opinion about the servo's.

I had some very bad "no-name" servos, and then after I saw some pics of a heli on this site that I think is yours?!?...I got the HS 45HB's

So far, I REALLY like them, and I have had no problems. I had to grind the ball link down to get the elevator servo to work properly, but I was able to do this very easily in about 5 minutes with a drill and a toothpick.

The servos seem more than powerful enough to drive the cyclic controls and are very fast and seem sturdy.

I wish I could help you with your "wandering" issue, but I have not had this issue. I did have a problem in my first few flights with very small pieces of plastic in the ball joints of the head, and I had to clean them all out.

So far, the HS 45HB's get full marks from me.

Thanks for the reply. I have had the same issue with the plastic. I have just replaced the HS-45HB servo's by the BMS-306BB, but it have to say.... I don't like it at all. I already have a problem with one servo. When I click on the horn on one it does not work anymore, pull it a 1/2mm back and it works. Second, I have to mount them through the inside wich in unhandy to do and etc.

So... You may call me crazy but I think I'm going back to the HS-45HB right away.

So... what I did. I removed all servo's. Whit a dremel I filed a little bit on all adges corner, so HS-45HB's aint to tight. I drilled the holes with the servo in the frame so I am sure they are aligned. I changed the servo's from place and I am going to try it again. I'll let you know.

Sounds like your drifting issue is caused by your servos not moving the same distance when you use your elevator. Check your 120 degree ccpm setup in your radio. Make sure they are all set on the same percentage and all moving the same distance. Also make sure your linkages for the head are moving freely and not binding.
