Hi ya guys

Just got one of these little guys awesome machines ive got a Futaba S3154, which I would like to use on the tail, I see some the guys on here have also used this servo.

Yet when I plug in the servo to the GY401 the servo go out of control (all the cyclics) and then the Gaui 12A ESC suddenly goes insanely hot so you can barely touch it. Then when you unplug the servo its fine and the ESC cools down, I have tried 2 of the Gaui ESC's and 2 401's so im putting it down to either the servo or the ESC. I am currently just using a standard 306BB as the tail which holds well but I would love to use the 3154 instead.

Anyone else had experience of this?

Regards

Matutu

so what you saying is that when you powerup with the 3154 plugged into the 401, the 3154 goes crazy and the esc gets really hot. but with the 306 plugged in and powered up it doesn't go crazy and overheat your esc. maybe you have a bad servo. I am using a 3154 with pretty good success, but I have read that alot of these servos burn up prematurely. some of them were happening right out of the box.

what pack are you running?

i've same problem of Matutu and use a gaui pack 800mah 7,4v...
instead with 306BB the system work without overheat, but don't hold well.
With 401 gyro, how much measure in the servo horn the distance from ball to the screw in your setup?
Cheers

Mine has exactly 10mm (1cm) from the middle of the ball to the middle of the screw.

I have mine at 10mm also, seems to be working ok there. I have also heard of guys having better luck with the Futaba 3153 digital servo. Guess its like the 9254 vs the 9253, I would take the 9253 anyday over the 9254, to high a failure rate.

5 BLADE ROTOR HEAD FOR 200

THIS IS SICK. HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN THE 5-BLADED ROTORHEAD FOR THE HURRICANE!
FLYING-HOBBY.COM HAS IT IN THE UPGRADE SECTION FOR THE 200.
IT'S $109.00 USD. WONDER HOW STABLE IT WOULD BE?? HMMMM.

Rick, I am using the 3153, and I have not noted any of the issues above in terms of high temps or burnouts. The 3153 is very slightly heavier than the 3154, and I don't really understand the difference between the two, but the 3153 is running cool for me so far.

Also...5 blades...wow...does more blades mean more stability, but less power (because of the increased drag)?

I,ve solved today the tail problem with this Ultraspeed Robbe microservo (0,05sec and 0,9kg at 4,8v):
http://www.rcmarket.org/FS-61-BB-SP...AL-p-20143.html
Work with my 401 in DS mode with 30% gain and the tail is solid...
Now i work for a good setup for 3d, because today when i try the model, have a slow speed cyclic (i set 8 degrees), i think i remove the paddles weight and as soon as possible try another time the micro!
cheers

I am having a second problem now. When i use this heli for more than 1 minute (roughly) suddenly i start to get twitches in all servos and the ESC is super hot, and then shuts down all power. Then reconnect battery and its ok for abit more. I have tried 2 ESC's now. Any ideas? Or anyone know a better ESC to get?

Matutu,
Are you using 2S or 3S?

OK. You need to find out what is binding. Unplug one thing at a time.
Putting an amp meter in line will help to diagnose the problem.

Ah ok i didnt know that a servo could cause this sort of over heating by binding i will check that out.

Thanks alot appreciate the assistance.

OK fellas,

I flew another 6 packs today. With the flybar wieghts off, the cyclic was pretty fast. Alot more to my liking. Also seems to free up the head with some dry , silicone lube spray, very lightly applied to all the ball links, mainshaft, swash bearing and tailshaft.

One problem that I have disliked about the heli so far is the pain in the butt it is to get the C/G correct on this heli. I have my gyro and rx up front, the ESC is midframe on the side. I have the Gaui 2S 800 pack hanging almost halfway off the battery tray with the leads facing aft just to they will be long enough to reach the ESC. I have to add alot of fwd trim just to get it to level.

Are you guys adding wieghts to the heli to balance it. I just cannot beat this tail heavy C/G.

PS: I know I have the 9G canopy, but this heli was tailheavy also when I had the painted glass cano (26g)

Hey anyone remember the guy here on RR that made a gyro plate that hung off the front of the heli. I think he had a 1200 Hyperion tucked underneath. Maybe he's onto something....

I was thinking about the 1200 pack also. Right now with the Logitech mounted on the bottom plate, as far foward as I can get it. The CG comes out perfect with 14g of weight added to the very front of the canopy. Without the the weight, as soon as you flipped it over, you could tell you were fighting the trim in hover and ff. This thing is so light, it is very sensitive to CG.

Found it!

Dug back quite a few posts to find it, but I got it. Thanks to zo6 for the borrowed pic. Not sure I like the rx hanging out on the side, and the ESC would be hanging off the other side. But I like the gyro mount! Also, I am pretty sure the 306 leads aren't long enough to reach comfortably back there. I thought I read somewheres that the HS45 leads are significantly longer.

tail hold problem on gaui 200

i am having a tail hold problem... not all servos... just tail... i take off into a hover, all is amazing for about 30 seconds(no tail input even needed)... then i start to piro counter clockwise and have little to no ability to correct the tail...i have to wait for my heli to "cool" (its not hot) or a new battery wont even give me 5 secs before the slow death piro. i have set my travel limits on the 401... im in ds mode... i am using all different types of batteries (7.4 and 11.1) to eliminate the overheating esc issues... my gear is at 30% in my dx7... i have dismantled and rebuilt a beautiful build into a Frankenstein trying to isolate interference...

is it interference? is my esc junk(any good replacement?) or am i missing something in my dx7 programming? please help... im so close... and its too cold to fly my rex!
