How do you change the link ends if you glue them in?

I've been using the CF rod for awhile now. The links are brittle, and cheap. You can get a few tail rods out of one piece of CF rod, I just make a few of them at a time.

just to be clear, I'm talking about gluing in a 1 inch piece of metal on each side, not a huge piece of metal.

just curious guys, why are you all having flex in your tail rods? If you are setting your limits correctly, it shouldn't be flexing(401), am I missing something?

PS: I got 6 flights today on my new Hyperion packs, very nice and consistant thru the whole 5 minute flight!

my limits are set correctly and mine was flexing like made, literally caused the heli to crash. I suppose my tail pitch slider could be slightly smoother, but the difference between the carbon rod and the metal rod is night and day.

My setup is correct, but carbon compared to a thin steel rod, I will always go with carbon. No need to wonder then.

lots and lots of loctite will help, and checking it every flight. I use the loctite in a stick, like a chapstick type stick sold at lowes as its easier than the liquid stuff.

anyone know the p/n for the t/r servo holder? the plastic pieces that wrap around the tailboom, extend out so you can attach the t/r servo?

thanks,

im thinking sheer head speed alone is a good reason to check every single tedious screw more often than you would with anything bigger... like a rex...
they make loctite in a stick?... why didnt i think of that! i gotta get some.
thanks rob

yea, someone mentioned the loctite in a stick a long time back, it is so much easier to use. Home depot doesn't seem to sell it though, either your hobby shop or lowes should have it. Its like 8 bucks for a stick though. But its lasted me like 2 years already.

is it really? you want a torque tube on this thing? Frankly, your available pinions has now dropped to gaui or gaui, second, I imagine any type of wack and you are saying good bye to a number of parts. If the belt is lubed, I see no major issue. I do notice that seem to have gone to metal on the tail pitch slider.

The tail pitch slider I am using is metal and uses gaui ball links for a solid feel that doesnt pop off if you blink wrong. Its too bad the guy doesn't seeem to be making them anymore.

you know, you have a good point there Rob. I am a pretty decent flyer, and if there is any type of wind, I can't seem to land flat. More often than not, I seem to hit the tail, which never hurts anything other than last week the tail pivot arm snapped but I think that was my fault as it was a harder than usual landing. Normally all I hear is the belt stripping past the grooves, screeching, when the tail blades hit the grass. no biggie though.

The biggest pain with the belt is the tension and keeping the tension the same. Around these parts its been cold. So, going from a warm house environment to the outside cold affects your belt tension. Since going to the CNC boom mount, it seems to hold the belt tension a little better, the plastic mount allowed the boom and belt to slide, and throw off the tension slightly.

I was thinking that a plus to the TT would be.... under hard collective manuvuers, my tail seems to squeal and torque out abit. Almost like it cant handle hard torque changes. I know that alot of this is my collective management. But, until I become as smooth on the sticks as some of the pro's out there, I need all the mechanical help I can get. AND getting the tail to hold better throughout some 3D manuvuers would help out my flying alot.

On my 600N I perform these certain manuevers very smoothly, without any bogging. For instance, aileron tic-tocs. With the 600N I can do them continously, without ever changing the H/S, very controlled. On the Gaui, I have to pause at every tic and toc, allowing the h/s to maintain, then apply the collective alot more slowly, just so I don't bog it down and thus have the tail kick out on me.

I guess what I am getting at is the tail could hold ALOT better IMHO!
