John,

It sounds like your bent blade grip might be the problem. Anytime I change blades, I usually have to redo the tracking. The blades can be slightly different and may not sit in the grips quite the same way.

Rick,

do you have a picture showing exactly how your battery plate is mounted?

I'll take a closer one tomorrow.

Basically, I made the plate slightly wider than the frame. Boiled some water and held it half way in the water with some tongs for about a minute. Took it out and bent it then let it cool. Then I used 2 layers of 3M gray 2 sided tape on top of the upper pitch servo. On the mount, I drilled 4 small holes slightly wider than the frame. Then I took some .010 steel safety wire and threaded it through the small drilled holes, through the frame and twisted the wire. Trick of the trade , you could use zip-ties if you dont have any safety wire. Thats it. Strap some velcro to the bottom of the plate and your done.

Thanks again John for the good idea!

everything looks great on that new mount... hows the flight difference over the stock gaui battery in the original tray? better cg inverted? kudos on the case... i made mine from a generic case from the hardware store. this little guy is too small not to have a case!

Hello,
has anyone tried the AR6300 in the EP200? Does it have enough range?

crash repair

hey Rick,
man i had to tear down the whole head. most of the binding was in the blade grips. i had some locktite on the brass pieces that fit in the yoke which was causing them to bind up. thanks for all the radio tips over the phone. i hovered it inside and things seemed much better with the tamed down throttle curve like you sugguested.
i'll try it tomorrow weather permitting.
thanks again, johnw.
p.s. those photo's are awesome!

AR6300

there is no need to use a reciever that small on the Gaui.plus it uses micro jst plugs for the servos. most of the servos used in these heli's use standard futaba or jr flat plugs. 6 to 8 gram servos are fine.

ar 6300

if you are thinking of getting this heli, look closely at every pic on this thread... we are using what we are using cause there are very few alternative options that work as good for size , fit, and cg.

John, I notice that depending on how I thread the screws in the bladegrips, one time, it will be binding, the next time, it is smooth like it should be.

Hey guys,

Reposting the below from rcgroups. I believe I found my problem with the tail and hoping someone can help me solve it.

"okay, figured out what is wrong with my heli, now need you guys to help me fix it.

I went out today and used the original tail rudder metal rod with this thing as the carbon tube I made up was wacking the rear tail fin as I should have cut the tube down more. Working on that this week. If someone knows the proper type of cf tube that I need, let me know, I'm just working with something I have lying around.

Anyway, the orignal tail rudder linkage caused the heli to just pretty much go crazy and crash, lost the blades but the main shaft appears okay.

So I bring it inside, take the main blades off and spin it up a bit to see if the main shaft is bent. Heres the problem. I have the thing just spinning in my hand, main shaft looks fine and I notice its not running smoothly, every so often, it like slows down for a sec. I tried this at a couple of different speeds, each time holding the heli with my hands off the dx7. Last time I flew, the thing was relatively decently holding the tail and the frame is not vibrating much, the random ticks with the tail must be coinciding with this power issue. So my question is, would this indicate a crap esc? Since I didn't have this problem on my trex600, I'm assuming the radio is fine. I did add a new ar6100 receiver, but plenty of people fly them with no problems.

Any suggestions?"

ESC

robl45,
do you mean there is some pulsing while spooling up the blades?
i have noticed a little of this too. it could be a lipo issue??
Castle creations does have a small 18A esc maybe i'll try that?
what do you think?

It's a long shot, but I've seen the pulsing from being in governor mode, and not realizing it. Having a non flat throttle curve can drive the ESC nuts in gov mode.

as far as I know this esc doesn't have govenor mode. The motor is basically not smooth, I just tried it with the motor pulled back from the main gear, just motor spinning and my rudder servo is twitching. Pluged the esc into the motor on my blade cp pro, just motor spinning again and the rudder servo on the hurricane 200 frame is twitching when the motor is running on the blade cp frame.

The esc is an ele 20 amp. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them, I'm begining to think its just a crap esc.
