Guys,

I'm going to be ordering mine this week along with some goodies. Can you all that have them flying nicely, take some good pics of your setup. If you have done any mods, ie: wieghts for c/g, or wires bundled, etc... it would be a great to see some close up pics.

Thanks very much!

Rick

Here is how mine is setup. I am running Hitec HS45's on the swashplate, a Futaba 401 gyro with a Futaba 3154 servo on the tail. Stock motor and ESC. I am currently using an E Flight 2S 800 battery from the Blade CX. I am running the plastic blades with no weights. If you look at the bottom plate from underneth you will see lettering. THe back of the 401 is just about center on the letter A. I am also using the stock canopy and with the gyro there the balance is just about right on. Current weight with this setup is 280 grams. Even though it is a little heavier it flies great. I am not doing any 3D with it yet. I want to try that outside firat if we get any weather. Hope these pictures are what you are looking for. Chuck

Yes, it is a GWS, and the jury is still out on it. I made the error when I bought this heli of getting cheap electronics, so I started out with the GWS receiver, 4 analog "no-name" brand servos and a Telebee gyro. I have now replaced the servos and the gyro, and the heli is flying 100% better. I still have the GWS, and I'll give it a month or so and see how it goes. So far, no real twitchiness, but I also haven't really tested the range yet. It is probably the next thing to go.

The lesson I learned on this heli is that getting marginal quality electronics is only a good idea in a cheap, marginal heli, but I am finding that this helicopter is really well designed and has great capabilities and needs decent electronics.

I'll let you know if the GWS gives out on me in the next few days! If I had the choice today, however, I'd go with a futaba 146 receiver.

I'll post some more pics. I'd also like to see some more set-ups from others in this forum!

Wesp, from the pics it looks as if you didn't install any servo horn screws. I assume you installed before the first flight, right ?

CWright's pics look great.

One thing I noticed:

The tie wrap around the receiver could "flex" it if it's too tight.

I think I wrecked one of mine doing that.

It was like the ground curcuit was cracked in the middle of the body.

@ $50 a pop, I'm not going to risk it.

I'm no expert but:

I had reset problems with my receiver:

1. Moved it away from the motor.

2. Used WD40, then silicone on the belt.

Don't use WD40-bad for the belt. Mark set me strait on that

Indoor flying in a dry winter envirnenment, static can be a real problem.

Do a search, Mark shows what to buy in the way of silicone.

It's called KEL. Red can. Pure silicone. You don't want added solvents
on your belt.

Also, I am surprised to see how many people are using the JST connectors. I personally hate these connectors. Never had any good luck with them especially with a lipo. I also read somewhere that they are only rated to 3 amps? Don't know if thats true. I chose to go with the Micro Dean 2 pole. I use them on all of my foamies which run 3S setups and never had a battery issue.
