Guys,

With such a small heli, what do you do with the excess servo wiring. Is the only silution to just wrap in with ties? Or, does it hurt the electronics to cut out the excess wire and re-splice it so the connections are shorter? If this is ok, can you cut wire out of a 401 gyro as well as servos?

This is why I am asking...maybe I am just brutal at running the wires, but it would be a lot easier to just cut some out!

I wouldn't / didn't cut mine.

Just wind and tie wrap.

There's enough real problems without coming up with imaginary ones.

Good luck

Thanks,

I figured that there really would be little upside in cuttting the wires. I'll keep wrappin' 'em!

I'm having a blast with my EP100

If you'd like to see a pic ,I posted "blades snapped", a week ago Friday.

You can kinda see the ugly wires in the photo.

YOu can save a significant amount of weight by shortening the wires.

The proper way is to get pins and crimper and shorten from the plug end.

Chopper,

I cut them down. The servo wires now run over the top servo, behind the receiver and plug in. The receiver is mounted on a piece of G10 that is epoxied to the top aluminum tube cross piece. You can loosen the two side screws and the receiver swings up to access the gyro (at least that was the plan - it turned out you can actually get to the limit screw on the gyro without moving anything).

Cutting them down was a pain in the butt and I'm not sure it was worth it.

If you decide to trim the wires, one source for the crimpers, pins etc. is Hansen Hobbies at www.hansenhobbies.com

Thanks, I'll look into this a little more, but the excess wires aren't as big issue as I first thought (aside from the fact that I could probably do a better job of securing them!), in fact, if anything, the more weight I get to the front the better to help with the centre of gravity!
