Those that used the Spektrum servos, did you use the stock servo arms? If so how did you space the balls on them?

On mine I am going to be using airtronics 94362z's. They are an 1/8 scale buggy servo but should be great for this. Analog not digital though.

I used the DS21s. I have the CNC arms on mine, so did not need to drill offset holes.

I have one JR Large servo wheel and the other two are running DuBro arms.

The JR wheel will do either straight or offset holes without drilling. The holes are the proper distance from the center, and there are sets of 3 holes, which are spaced for the offser very nicely.

The DuBro arms have holes at the proper spacing for the non-offset setup.

Ihighly recommend getting a package of the JR Long Screws as theyreinforce the output shaft a bit.

hi

i used the ds 821 's flew it today no problems,,seemed to roll ok,, i did not drill any offset holes,, don't see any reason why and can't see any problems flying it that way ..

So you just used the stock arms on the Spektrum servos and there is no binding or problems?

hi

none,,on the aileron servo to keep the links the same length i had to move the link balls on the roll lever to equal holes

You can use the stock bellcranks for the front two servos without offset. You just have to choose the proper two holes. There are two holes at each end. you can hook them up straight or offset.

For the elevator (rear) you have to change to the CNC elevator lever to run without offset. If you set up your servo arm with no offset connected to the bellcrankwith offset youa re introducing binding and strain on the links and the servo.

Have you tried this Terry - I used the CNC levers on my 550, but I am considering buying another 550 and building it up low-cost (I love the way it flies and I have loads of spares anyway so will make a good spare heli).

As you say there are two "straight" holes on the plastic front levers - but they are not the same ones as on the CNC levers. By holding the plastic lever against the CNC lever it looks as if you would end up with the plastic levers tilted down more to use the straight holes - which would mean that you needed more of an angle on the servo arm to get it parallel. Would this not change the geometry on the servo as it would not be centred around 0 degrees, but centred around (say) 10 degrees of offset.

I'm not sure I've explained this well - I can see the principle, just wondering if it works in practice.

Cheers,
Mike.

I will have to find my plastic parts and check. I thought the CNC and plastic were the same.

I need help on a decision with my servos. I have 3 new Airtronics 94362z's sitting here ready for it or I can use three futaba 9350's. The futaba's are lighter, digital, and have more torque, but the Airtronics are much faster. .07sec instead of .12. Keep in mind this is my first heli so I know both of these are overkill but will it feel more locked in with the futaba digitals?
