I'm ordering one as soon as they are back in stock, I plan to fly my heli In FPV (First Person View) for AP. Been planing it for six months now, just decided to order all necessary equipment.

Advantages.

-High altitude shots no problem.
-Difficult take off landing areas? no problem take off from somewhere else and fly your heli to your objective. (With a good downlink system you can fly up two miles away!)

(Wont be flying FPV in urban areas of course)SAFETY FIRST

- Visibility problems? no problem you don't need to see your heli you will be "in the cockpit"

The Intelligent Flight OSD features all the info you can possibly need even a "Home" arrow so you wont get lost. I think it's going to be an amazing tool for my AP work.

Here's an example, he is not using an OSD, but still think of the possibilities! http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=aEmp49jHdA4

REGULATIONS

Well I don't know about you guys but there are no regulations regarding this in Colombia.

Still nothing occurred to me, and the site must be revised times. I think to spring words differently.

Sorry to hear Torsten. Hopefully he'll change it.

I have one. Tried it on a TRex 600.
Current and Power consumption works good, but GPS-data was not very successful.
After playing around with it I found that it's not a big help for AP.

This is the one I use along with a Garmin Summit hand held GPS. This gives the ability to navigate waypoint to waypoint, up to 999 of them. It is a bit larger than the Intelligent Flight OSD and not as configurable but it does a great job on the XLV and XCell 60. The Intelligent Flight OSD is great for the smaller rigs. My Easy Star can't lift the Inspire, too big anyway.

I want to try the Intelligent Flight OSD as well due to its size. Time to order....

If the GPS data is lagging or not accurate as you say, then this won't really be any better than the black box.

I'm using Inspire OSD from DPCAV. Very good product and good support. This unit take downloadable GPS records of each shot you take (it also has a shot counter on the screen). If it's used in conjuction with a GPS you can take advantage of way point navigation which also gives the possibility to set up the take off point as home and it will give you the direction (arrow) and the distance to that specific point.
I also tried FPV using MyVu glasses but the screen seems to be too small and far. I might need more training in order to get used to it.

I'm not driving fast, I'm flying low...

Well which Intelligent Flight OSD are you talking about? They have two to offer and yes both are delayed due to a mix up with the parts by the distributors and the other (Dragon) which should arrive soon. Apparently most are spoken for (Dragon) but they might have about 15 to 16 left for us to grab. IFOSD is very tiny and light does everything needed for us, Dragon is larger but does have some big possibilities for future upgrades like Artificial Horizon, can operate switching functions and the source code is rewritable by us who wish to change the way it operates to our needs. I also was told they will have a RF link for the OSD's so if you wish to fly say... over 100KM away, it will do it for you I also saw a little video of IFOSD with a G-Force indicator... kind of a neat function for fun if you ask me. Intelligent Flight has announced on RCG that they are now selling the KX171 camera with the DSP modded out for us FPVers so their camera does stand above the competitors for the SAME PRICE!!! Keep an eye on these boys since their team of engineers 1 in Denmark, 1 in Singapore and 1 in USA are pumping out stuff ahead of the rest for us hobbyist. They have partners in Europe as well working with them so the more minds working together the better!

That is some good info jmstech. I love my Inspire OSD but it's size is a bummer for small aircraft. I once viewed an osd that was a full on military style HUD that was very comfy on the eyes with a nice complement of info. It too had the horizon with pitch info, could do a full instrument approach with it. But it was a one off and not for sale.

I like gadgets so I'm up for the Dragon and IFOSD. I have plenty use for extra OSD's. The XLV can carry a lot of equipment...

Bummer wish that was available to us huh? Well Inspire was a good unit at the time, but I.F osd's are upgradeable to a point so it should last you a while

Oopps sorry for the typo in the links but it's fixed now. It's still underdevelopment and Daniel Wee hasn't even flown it yet because of work, but will as soon as possible! He estimate it should be on sale for about $120 to $150USD and is a add on to your Dragon. Gee I wonder what else he will think of next to add on to the best affordable OSD on the market?

Is the IF OSD available anywhere? It's been OOS, and I emailed them but got no response. Good things tend to go OOS quick, they not be able to keep up with eng/production, excessive demand.
