Will get my MX450 on the 14th from Tower. This will be my first electric. Any suggestions on motor, ESC, BATT, combination and set-up tips. Thanks.

Howdy. I have the align 35a ESC and 430l motor. These seem to be a pretty decent setup. The justgofly 450th is another good option. As for servos, I currently have hitec hs-55's. They are OK, but I am fixing to buy some hs-65's that are much more durable. Basically, if you crash, you will be buying new gear sets for the hs-55's, whereas the 65 are much more likely to survive a crash. I'll put it to you this way: I crashed for the second time today, and it's the second time I have to buy more servos! I would go the extra mile from the get go... but that's just my opinion!

I agree with everything Crazyaggie05 said.

Here is some of the best gear for the money
motor- JGF 500th , Align 430xl
ESC - Castle Creations P 35a
Gyro- Futaba Gy-401
servos- hs65mg . I have never found a really good tail servo that is cheap. I am using the Futaba S3153 and it's working flawless so faR BUT the micro servos are bad to burn out on the tail.

A common mistake that most everyone makes and it's a expensive mistake is buying cheap Lipos. They will puff after very little use.
Buy a big name lipo like FlightPower 2200mah 20c .I have heard great things about a AirThunder lipos and that will be the next lipo I try. DONT go cheap on lipos it will cost you more in the long run.

Good call on the LiPos! I would probably shell out the extra dough for the 401 vice the 240. I wish I did. I am having a lot of trouble with my tail. I don't know if I am setting it up wrong, or have a crappy servo, or both. The 401 should be rock solid.

We run the reccomended motor on the MX450.

It's the AMMO 28-45-2700. That's a 518 watt motor.

We use an ACE 45 amp ESC...nice features.

Lipos= 2200mah rated 20C...

Futaba GY401 Gyro...

The above setup runs barely warm and produces
awesome power. The heli will go from zero to 60 feet
in the blink of an eye and the tail holds perfect.

Check out the WATT rating on motors you are
considering. More WATTS= cooler running because
the motor is not working very hard.

Just my .02

Airman Bob,

I have this Ammo motor, but the end of the motor shaft has a slight bend in it from a Zagi wing crash. I was thinking of just giving it the tap treatment with the old hammer......ha. It does run very
good temperatures as you say.

I run CC35,align 430L,flight power 2100,futaba GY240,and HS55's all the way around.I put align 325's with align flybar and paddles with no weights.Nothing ever gets hot and thats flying hard 3D.It will do anything a TRex will do.

Yes, I ordered the same ESC, motor and battery. Might be the lighting in the photo, but your tail servo looks like a black Futaba ?? or is it HS 55 also?

I'm running the Align 430XL motor and Align RCE-BL35X ESC from my TRex 450SE in my MX450 and you won't believe the run time you can get from a 2200 mAh battery and if has very good power.

If you want to mover up to some serious power in it the Scorpion HK 2221-8 Motor with a 13T gear and the Scorpion 45 Amp ESC which also has a 4amp BEC will make it come alive and they are just a touch over $100 for the set. I put the Scopion in my TRex is the reason I used the Align motor and ESC and the MX450.

For servo's I like the HS65's
For the Gyro I'm running the 401 with a boom mounted S9257
Rx is a Futaba PCM
Batteries are 2200 mAh Jack Power's and you will need to fabricate you a battery mount. That thing they give you is crap and you realy need to get the weight just a little more forward for the boom mounted servo. At least I did anyway, but I'm also running the align tail rotor assy. A fabricated mount that angles the battery lets the cover go on much better also, if you put the cover on.

Flies extremely well and extremely long

I run the HRPoly-X low voltage warnings on all mine and everytime I fly the MX450 I about 2/3 way into the flight I keep bringing it close to me to see if it working because it takes so dang long for the thing to run the battery down.
