e-Ark X-400 - MX400 > Where should I go from here?!

Howdy ya'll. Well, it is about time for me to dust off the ole heli and get back into the hobby after the usual hiatus I have every year. (if it ain't college taking up my time, its pilot training!) Anyways, I have a MX400 with mostly metal everything and the eCCPM kit. I have your run of the mill hitec hs-55 servos and an hs-50/gy240 on the tail. I also have the trex flybar and gorilla paddles. I remember the last it flew, it was flying pretty good. Right now I have the align 35a esc and 430l motor. I have a jgf 450th in the box waiting to be thrown on. Oh, and I run TP2100's.

I am in the market for some upgrades, and I was looking for some input. It looks like the 347mm tail boom is a good choice with the SAB 320mm blades. As far as ESC upgrades (I think my align esc is junky, and it cuts out every once in a while) what is the hot ticket for the jgf 450th? I was looking at the quark or castle creations 35a. What would ya'll recommend for servos? I know there are a lot of mounting issues servo wise. I glued the black nuts to the servo mounts and it works OK, but it ain't the most secure or slop free method. I know someone is going to tell me to use the search button, but I have been! I don't have a whole lot of time to mess around on here with minimum 12 hr work days 5 days a week. Thanks!

I dont have any experience with other esc's other than the stock align. But go with the hitec 65 metal geared servos.

hi
i have the JGF 450TH with a CC P-35 and the hot setup is to run them off a system like a spektrum or a berg RX

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...?&I=LXLBY9&P=ML

the cutouts you are seeing can be caused by a RX passing on bad frames , so depending on the RX you have now , that could be what is going on , the CC ESCs are good but they cut power if they see bad frames , this is a safety feature , that people see as a problem , but believe me , it is way better than having the ESC go full power , the berg RX uses software to filter the signal and will not pass bad frames to the esc , so you end up with very smooth control , the spektrum systems are pretty much bomb proof and give you smooth control also , almost any other RX besides PCM will have troubles , the small electrics can be a nightmare for glitching , and with a small FM RX can be problematic , HTH , dana

Upgrade the Tail Box to a Align Pro, stock Mx450 can't handle the RPM's of the 430 motor...check pinion. I had 2 stock MX tail boxes explode like a mini hand granades.

I've got an all metal TREX tail on it already The stock is garbage... I could never get the tail to operate smoothly. I think Ill run a 12 or 13t pinion with the 450th.

Well, I ordered a bucnh of crap from modefos and grandrc last night! I figured my crash saturday was a good excuse to buy some stuff. I think I may have gone a little overboard though. I ended up getting a Logitech 2100t gyro and Futaba S9257 to replace my gy240 and hs-50. I read up a lot on gy240 setup and it looks like the problems I was having with it are some of it's inherent problems. I could never get it to center up right and it would always drift. I got the extended tailboom and some 325mm pro-woods to go with it; oh and 3 hs-65's to replace my hs-55's. I can't wait to get it flying with the new equipment. It should be a whole 'nother bird!

sounds like you have it going on with the upgrades, I am adding a 401 gyro to my mx400 pro , i hope it works better than your 240

Yeah the 401 is supposed to be light years ahead of the 240. I was going to get a 410, but I opted for the 2000t because it is less expensive, and is the hot thing on the block right now.

futaba 240

I was thinking the only difference between the 240 and 401 was that on the 401 you can adjust the gain from your tx? What makes the 240 better then gy 401 other then remote gain adjustment?
