When I was first learning to hover I guess I was hard on the rubber dampners that connect your skidds to your main frame. As I was learning to hold my hover and set my heli down with out bouncing, I was starting to SPLIT the dampners. I finnaly got to where my hover was rock solid and I could set my Heli down soft as a feather. Of course with my wife my son watching I said The always dangerous "WATCH THIS" I lifted off my home made heli pad at the back of my land, got about six feet in the air and my training gear and skidds seperated from my new JR Venture. They just ploped down as if relesed like a bomb. Yes, I was in a state of shock not understanding what happened nor how to land with out trashing a new Heli. I tried to set it down but I was not very successful as it was demolished. My wonderful supporting wife says "Cool" and walks back to the house.

So, check your dampners often. I do......NOW!

Probably your best bet is to hit the throttle hold and max out the collective to try and bleed off the headspeed so when the inevitable comes your heli won't go about destroying itself.

ME TOO!!!

That exact same thing happened to me too! Even the part about getting my family to watch. I was hovering very well that day and decided to show my Mom (I'm 15) my progress. Well, she came out and I lifted off and then plop the landing gear and training gear fell off. I was a little more fortunate than you I landed it with no problem. I'm thinking about instead of the rubber dampers to just put a bolt through the whole thing so if the rubber does break the landing gear does not fall off.

Thanks for the input guys. I wish I knew about this site a year ago. I have since come across very simular fixes. I have also been building a scale Bell 222 with an X-cell to move it. I will try to post some pics. soon. I love getting input from everyone I can.
