I was disappointed and concerned this time. Disappointed due to the low turn out, something that can't be helped. I was very concerned however when on Saturdays the EMT's told the folks running the event that the storms were moving in, with a lot of ground hitting lighting, and they choose to keep the event going. It seems to me that it would have been prudent, knowing that the rain wasn't going to abate for some time to get the people out of there. This could have very well turned into a very serious problem. The only thing everyone was waiting on was a raffle. Perhaps they could have drawn all the items earlier like they did last year and get the people moving and out? Just a suggestion.

Go that way really fast.. If something gets in your way.. TURN

I had a good time. Nick Maxwell, Alex Rodriguez, and Andrew Jesky really chopped it up out there Saturday afternoon before the rain.

I had a great time as well. The storm only put a slight damper on the events Saturday but most people still stuck around.

Thanks to everyone who made this a great event.

I've noted everyone's comments about the event and will keep all suggestions in mind for next year.

In all we had 82 pilots who flew on site over the 3 days and everyone had ample room and time to fly.

I'd also like to thank John Russman and his associates for bringing in the Bell Jet Ranger, Bell 47, Enstrom and TwinMaster full scale aircraft for our enjoyment.

Congrats to the winners of the raffle drawings! Thanks to everyone who came and helped put on a excellent event!

I had a great time as well. Nice opportunity to hang out with old friends and make some new ones. The weather wasn't ideal but as others all ready stated it didn't prevent flying for long. Looking forward to next year.

safety

Regarding the safety of our event, at no time did anyone, EMTs or otherwise communicate with any of the Weak Signals Club members or myself about any concerns to do with severe weather or lightening.

I verified this with the AMA CD/Weak Signals Club officer present at the event, Mike Lucier. He didn't hear of any such concerns and if he had he would have immediately brought it to my attention and we would have handled the situation with safety in mind for our participants. The safety of everyone at our event was of prime importance.

We also had live satellite radar on site that we constantly monitored both for the safety of our participants but also to direct whatever full scale aircraft were inbound and outbound. We also had radio contact with several full scale pilots who had access to immediate weather information from their respective control towers at the surrounding airports to keep abreast of any potential inclement weather heading our way.

The raffle timing worked out exceptionally well. It poured through the raffle drawing, but as soon as we finished the sky literally cleared, the wind calmed and the flying for the rest of the evening was wonderful.

We were very happy with the turn out considering the weather forecast leading up to the event being rather gloomy. Despite higher fuel and travel costs we had over 75% of the participants who had pre-registered well over half the amount of participants who showed up last year. All considered, there were no claims of radio trouble, flight station complaints or flying time restrictions.

All in all everyone whom I spoke with, which was nearly everyone, had positive things to say about the event. I intend to tweak some things for the next event, though I do hope the weather looks and is a bit brighter next time.

A friend had attended last year, and after hearing him talk about the event, I couldn't wait for this years. What a great event!! I made the mistake of only going Saturday and Sunday, next year, all three days.
Thanks to Dan and Hirobo/MRC for making an event of this calibre available to model heli fliers. Thanks to the Hirobo team field reps who were so helpful, and especially Paul who set-up my Evo 50 and radio.
Lastly, a special thanks to the members of the Weak Signals Flying Club who gave up their field for this event and kept us fed. Besides keeping the field spotless I also suspect they helped with set-up. This is one great flying field you members should be proud of.

Had a great time , can't wait until next year

Dan, I think things went exceptionally smooth even with the weather not completely cooperating and at no time did I feel that we had ANY safety issues, heli, weather, or other related.

Great job on hosting and thanks again to John and Mike from weak signals for providing great facilities and entertainment.
