If you look at the manual from Helimax, they recommend the Electrifly
1250 Lipo. Specs show it at 1.67 inch wide. How does that fit in the battery tray. I only measure 350 mm ?

Yes dana, it is 35mm on the MX 400. Thunder Power Pro Lites would still be a tight fit unless you can stand the pack on the side?

hi cassat

thanks , i should of just measured mine , i thought you might have been asking about the 400 and i wasen't sure if they are the same

my 450 frame measures closer to 33mm across the lower frame , i have a electrifly 1250 11.1 volt 20 C that measures 33mm X 22mm X 103mm
and a older thunder power 11.1volt 15 C that measures 33mm X 20mm X 103mm

the electrifly is air spaced so althought its lighter it is a bit bigger

what i ran into using the electrifly was it is too light to make CG unless you extend the battery shelf out a few inches , i ende up making a custom tray as i wanted to run the lighter pack , the picture doesn't show it very well but with the battery that far forward only about 15mm overlapped the stock battery shelf

Yes, I was planning on running mine out front of the lower frame crossbrace, so it needs to be "inside" the frame on the MX 400.
Do you need loctite blue on the frame screws?

Thanks
Cassat

hi casset
my MX looks like the factory used some king of glue to threadlock all the screws , it is clear and looks like thick CA , any metal to metal fasteners should go back together with a medium strength locktite , i use a blue permatex , just because it is easy to get here locally , i believe the blue locktite is the same , dana

Elictrifly make a 1500 mah 20c that is about the size of the 1250, I am thinking about running that pack with the stock motor. is anyone running that pack? and are the balanced packs lasting longer than the unbalanced packs?? this is also my first post.

hi Mark
welcome to the forums , with multi cell lipo batteries , they can get out of balance with multiple charge discharge cycles , and using a balancer with your charger is a good idea , you don't have to balance them every charge , but once in a while can really help , i have a triton charger and a compatable balancer that was only around $30.00 , most new lipos come with a balance plug wired into them , hope this answers your question , dana

here is a link to the battery balancer i have

can you take measurements and maybe come up with a little drawing so that i might be able to make a battery tray myself

I ended up with a 2200 mah from Parkzone and a new Align battery. The balance appears perfect with these having just a touch of nose down.
