e-Gaui Hurricane 200 & 550 - EP100 > how does the Hurricane 200 compare to the Trex 450?

I fly pretty hard 3D with my Trex and got to fly one of these babies a couple weeks ago. It is very squirrely! Don't think it is a shrunk down trex. It is much more unstable than the trex and I would only recommend to very experienced pilots... Noobs will be frustrated trying to learn on this one.. Just my initial opinion.

I dont' think you had it setup right, while it won't be quite as stable as a Trex, at least with mine, when it is flying well, its pretty stable, much more stable than the Blade CP I have in my closet, I couldn't even get that stupid thing to piro, let alone anything else while I can piro this thing in my garage.

I think that it is very stable for it's size. I do think that it is very sensitive around center though, and sensitive to trim. but for a stable hover, it will just sit there.. I have the weights off, and love it!
I really think that it should be for someone who has has experience with setting up a heli, and is somewhat comfortable with CCPM, because the manual really leaves you hanging on that part.
Not even a hint!

Bob, I should be setting mine up tomorrow. Anything I should know about setting it up? Anything to get it setup right.

Pitch range -
Headspeed -
belt tightness -
flight times on a Gaui 800 2S pack?
blade type?
F-glass cano or I think I read there is a plastic one?

thanks,
Rick

I am running my collective at +/-13 ( I might tone that down a little bit after some more flying) cyclic is at 7 degrees.
I am running my throttle curve at 100% across the board in idle-up, not sure of the headspeed.
I have my timer at 4:30 and putting about 500mah back in after flights. (EFlite 2S 800 pack)
the tail belt on mine was very tight, and seemed to put a little extra drag on the system. I loosened just slightly, and seemed much better (I was going by how long the head would spin by hand)
The wood blades seem a little more efficient, and stiffer (they are
about 2.5g lighter than the plastics also. The plastic blades don't seem to need the spacers, but the wood blades do.
The plastic canopy is about 9g and the fiberglass one that comes with it is 25G
I found a battery that is designed to replace the Eflite CX battery, but is 850mah, and rated for 15C. I am going to try one of those, and the GAUI 800 packs.
Make sure you check over the screws, I found a few very loose when I got it. make sure there all the links in the head are free (very sensitive to this) When removing links, it is easiest to pry off with a fingernail on the opposite side of the rod.
With the mech setup right, the Logitech 2100/3154 seems to work very well. The 3154 does not seem to get as warm as it does with the
GY401 either.

For what it is, the 200 is a pretty stable machine.
I have checked out a few including one of my own that were "squirrelly" and every time I found a tight link on the head. This makes it feel like you are always chasing the helicopter an cant get ahead of it. If you find a tight link, carefully (Bob!) pop the link off and you will a piece of plastic flashing in there.

Hey Ray, do you know how the name Gaui is pronounced, I'm just curious? I have been pronouncing it like "Goo-wee" or is it like "Gwee"?

Figured a rep would know

thanks,

Rick
