e-Gaui Hurricane 200 & 550 - EP100 > how does the Hurricane 200 compare to the Trex 450?

now I know the 200 is about half the size of the Trex, but really how does it fly in comparison? indoors and out? My club does some indoor flying over the winter and I am really thinking about selling my Trex for the 200,. but will the 200 fly outdoors well?
I have flown a Blade CP pro and it does ok outside but the trex is much better.

The 200 will be more effeted by wind outdoors, and overall more twitchy/less stable.

Figure the same change from the Trex to the Blade as the Blade to the 200. Not quite as much as the Blade isn't the best of the 300 helis.

Personally I would not sell my Trex for a 200. But having both would be good.

I'd agree its much less stable... i just got mine and I'm trying to get it tamed to the point where i can really make it maneuverable. If you check out the prices of parts and batteries, this is truly a CHEAP heli to own after the initial equipping of it. The part prices of this machine make the t-rex look like a hirobo in comparison.

I have to say, after crashing this, and thinking it was going to be cheap. I was suprised a little bit. (unless there is another online store with more parts) In the crash the links are very brittle, and crack. Not too bad, except that also includes the links from the washout arms to the swash. I could not find these seperate, add 24.00 to the crash cost. The little tiny screws holding the washout arms on the base bend, can not find those either (they might be available seperate someplace, but have not found them. Screws included with washout set, still at an extra 24.00 dollers. Bell arms, link pulled out, and bent, again soft tiny little screws holding them onto the grips bend, 16.00 to replace. I bought the 2mmx 10mm spare bolts thinking they would work for the grips, they don't seem to want to thread into the spindle. If you have to replace the grips to get the screws, add another 26.00 (still seeing if those screws might work, or find others that work. parts of the heli seem to survive a crash well, but the aluminum parts, and mounting screws can add to the cost. In the past I have liked buying heli's with aluminum in the head because it saved the cost of broken plastic parts, but this heli seems found away around these cost savings.
I do love the way it flies, but it is too small, and fragile for me to enjoy repairing, anyone one want to buy a 200 that needs a couple replacement parts!

Bob, what are you looking to get out of your 200?
I acctually have not flown my Trex since I got my hurricane, but with winter comming a indoor heli would be nice, I just don't enjoy flying the trex indoors (we fly at a local church which has a 1/2 court gym) something smaller would be great.

It's not quite the same, but here is a pic I have of the Hurricane 200 next to a T-Rex 450 main blade. It gives an idea of how small it is.

I'll try to get a snapshot of it next to my T-Rex 450 later.

I agree with Pinecone.

It's nice to have both.

They fill a different need.

I have a TREX and an (EP100 not quite the same, but close).

I too am thinking of ditching my trex for this heli or really my modified mini zoom pro.

certain parts for sure are more expensive, like the 10 dollar main gears, thats unacceptable. Otherwise, the parts are relatively cheap. I found it to be pretty stable when I flew it. Was just having issues with the tail and no climbout. 450 is too big for my backyard. I have a 600 as well. I believe one of them will go soon, I might keep the mini zoom and a 450 or a minizoom/hurricane 200 and the 600.

But I don't think anyone can compare this to a blade cp. That thing is a piece of crap. I know because I have 300 dollars worth of parts and crap sitting in my closet. upgraded and upgraded and the thing still flew like a piece of garbage. My walkera 52 flew better. I'm hoping the new hurricane 200 flys decently as it would be the perfect heli to fly in the car when the moment strikes. And no issues with charging huge batteries.

Rob, don't order the $8.50 main gear with the oneway bearing - this thing doesn't auto anyway. Just order the EP100 (non pro) main gear set 203020 - only $2.38 each.

thanks But all the firefox parts are like 50% more than the minizoom parts. 4 dollars is better than 10 for sure, but the real mini zoom gear is even cheaper I think helihobby might have had it, but they are always out of stock on everything.

How does the H200 compare with a 450?

For what it's worth . . .

I flew 3 packs this afternoon in a Trex 450 SE v1 and then when the wind completely died flew my H200.

Mind you. I am NO great pilot. Here's my thoughts:

- the 450 is definitely more stable. At my skill level, I've dialed in a lot of expo to tame the H200. The H200 can be really quick. Not a great heli to learn the basics on.
- the H200 makes my "flying yard" a whole lot bigger. Where I get cramped with the 450, the H200 has plenty of room. You can fly it around your yard without worrying about taking out the pets, the windows, your friends etc. It probably wouldn't be fun to get run over , but it wouldn't kill you.

- the H200 likes a nice calm day. It gets blown around pretty easy.
- working on the H200 is like working on a watch. It's really dinky. Makes a 450 seem huge. Even the wire leads on the gyro (a 401) effect the balance. Be ready to shorten wires. You have to pay attention to balance (battery placement etc.) a lot more then a 450.

Would I do it again? Yeah, I think so. The H200 is really a nicely put together kit. As someone else pointed out, once it is together it is relatively cheap to maintain. Parts are still sketchy, but you can get anything if you have a little patience.

The canopy, IMHO, is about as ugly as it gets, but that is what paint is for!

That's it.

I have the new lightweight canopy on, and I get a auw of 250g (that is with a Eflite 2S 800 pack at 45g)
Today (after someone made the suggestion to me) I took off the weights on flybar. Awsome! it did not loose any stability in hover, but becomes very agile.
They still need to sort our the parts issues. I had to spend 5.00 for some plastic head parts to get a set of double links to get back in the air (links are only 1.40). I think once that is sorted out , and you get used to working on it, it will be a nice "indoor" 3D heli.

geez, the mini zoom pro has not been an issue for me as far as weight balance. I just loaded it up and it balanced fine.

I've seen one with a GY401, the lightweight canopy and a GAUI 800 2S
pack have a perfect CG. Mine, with the lighter pack, canopy, and the Logitech gyro is way tail heavy. I saw a pic of someone making a platform for the gyro to move it further foward, and also a larger battery, and have the cg spot on also.
