captain crash Senior Heliman Location: wirral uk
| I fitted three sets of these blades , last week to my helis two sets of 85mm to my two 600ns and one set to my 450se. On fitting the two sets off 85 , i found them to be a bit tight in the 600n grips and the shoulder on 3mm bolt where very tight, I gave the roots a quick sand down and used a small rat tail file , to open up the bolt holes just enough to allow the bolt ,to pass though.
went flying on sunday, took my first 600n out, picked it up to waist high ,put in full left rudder, let it piro about ten times and released the stick to stop it ,i herd a crack and it did not stop. I hit hold and auto down ok. On inspection I find both blades broken off flush with the grips, nice clean brake.
between helping newbies and dodging the rain, a few hours later, with out giving my second heli with k&b tails any thought, I did a tail stand take off, inverted backwards down the field, into a turn, crack, piro. managed to flip over and auto down ok, with a bit of a walk to get the heli, find both tails broken off , this time about one inch from the grips, all jagged.
Both my helis have 611 gyros with the delays set to 15 and 45 stop. The weather on sunday , felt very cold with a eastly breeze blowing, but was no where near freezing point.
Today , late afternoon, went out to do my first night flying and took my t-rex 450 to play with while waiting for it to get dark, on spool up the heli rocked backwards the tail blades bearly touched the grass and crack. today the temp was just above freezing.
Do you think, i got a bad batch off blades , the cold weather afects them or are the blades just crap.
buy the way i had a real buz night flying.
