Beginners Corner > Revo Mixing and HH Gyro Question

I have been reading through some of the various topics people have posted and answered to, about Revo Mixing and HH gyros and was just wondering what is the straight answer. Do you use Revo Mixing with a HH gyro when it is in HH mode or is it not required? If you did use it what affects good or bad would it have?

I am using a JR G410T with tail-lock (HH) mode active and I'm just in the first stages of hovering.

Any suggestions welcome

I got the same gyro and you have to disable revo mix in HH or it wont hold right.
I think the affect would be bad but i have never tryed it...

Revo with HH

A gyro in HH mode will see the revo mix correction as a stick input asking it to rotate the heli, which it will. So, as you add throttle/pitch the revo mix adds right yaw to compenstae for the added tourque, which, on a standard gyro, is good and keeps the heli close to straight. The same scenario with a HH gyro, and the heli will start rotating to the right.

Clear as mud?

I set mine to +35% Rev Up and + 35% Rev Down just because that's what it said to do in the manual for the heli. When I first hovered the heli (before I had the tail strike ) it didn't seem eractic but just didn't seem to be really holding.

Revo with HH

I see now Mike.

That explains why I always had to compensate with the rudder so much when I increased throttle/pitch. I knew I might have to add alittle but it always seemed too extreme. I will have to set the Rev to 0 and try it again when this damn cold weather goes away.

Im using a JR 8 and use revo in normal idleup so HH cant be used in startup or landing, I use no revo in idleup 1 and 2 and use only the digital trims to trim and compensate. It would be nice to be able to use revo and HH with just the flip of a sw ie: enabeling and disabeling revo in the same flight mode, I am guessing but a 9Z or a 10x probably can do that and that little software addition is why they cost so much. Anybody doing this with their super TXs? Ive been pondering this Q for a LONG time and I imagine a lot of other fellas as well. Anybody doing this or is everybody just flying in HH mode and thats it. I knew Id be looking for more software in this TX eventually it was just a matter of time.

Beezer, madmax: what servo are you using with the JR-G410 gyro? I've had no sucess with a hitech 525bb in HH mode, so it's back to non HH for now.

Im using a FUT 3001 BB with mine and seems to be working fine.
The manual said standard servo so i gave it a shot.
I was going to get the Hitech 525 BB but so far so good.

Right now I'm just using the standard JR 537 servo until I can find another good non-digital servo. Have no money to upgrade to a full digital setup and don't see no point in it at my skill level right now.

Beezer - do you think i should switch out the hitec-525bb and replace it with one of my Jr-537? Maybe the problem is in the 525bb?

Heliman,
I use the gear switch to switch from HH to non HH. leaving my idle up switch to do it's own thing. That way I can switch to either no matter what idle up setting I'm in. Granted I'm using a 10SX radio, but you should have a switch somewhere that's not being used .

Chris, the JR8 software standard setup is to use the rudd dual rate sw to sw between normal and HH, the prob again is tho that revo cannot be sw back and forth at the same time also on the same sw. Maybe ive missed something somewhere in the software but I dont like using HH all the time and would like to sw it in flight and disable/enable the revo @ the same time. I guess the idleup setup Im using will have to do. Does the 10x offer any unusual revo setups like this?
