e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > throttle pitch curves for HBK2

What are good throttle/pitch curves for the HBK2? I am doing FF and a little FFF and want to know if I should get a setting and stick with it or progress to a more advanced pitch as I progress?
I am currently running a linear curve from positive to negative.

throttle
90-70-50-70-90
pitch
0-25-50-75-100 full +/- 9degree

I'd be interested to hear how you arrived at the throttle numbers. I thought it was supposed to be closer to:

100 95 90 95 100

I'm not flying in idle up yet so I haven't tested these settings. Just something I saw on a video from a guy named Bob.

I've been doing LOTS of research on this, as this is EXACTLY what I'm doing right now.....fine tuning my idle up settings.....the guys doing hard 3D like to run all out, 100 all the way across.....for more sport stuff a slight V seems to be popular 90-85-80-85-90....this keeps the headspeed much more constant(than a steep V) and you are basically using pitch for collective...this way when you need the heli to respond the headspeed is there and the heli reacts quicker....I started tame 75-70-65-70-75 and now I'm working my way up as I progress......I'm at 90-85-80-85-90 right now and its plenty for where I'm at....for now

Just some random docile numbers. It almost mirrors the normal mode so you can switch in midair and not rise or fall and gain the negative pitch. I believe the numbers you described you switch into idleup before liftoff. Dont quote me on that though. I wanted to know the better route the one you described or the mid-flight switch.

So when and where do you flip the switch fenderstrat?

I flip it from a hover.....usually a hover from 5-6ft is about 3/4 throttle or 75% and idle up is 85% so its only a 10% jump which isn't much......this heli on 10T in idle up is a little rocket...really responsive

I can imagine Ive did a few popups to 85% in normal WOW. so you dont see a freaky jump up? And do you see longer or shorter flight times as you are doing FF with less pitch and more headspeed. Or the same.

I'm gonna try 80-75-65-75-80 should be fast enough. I thought 75% normal was FFF.

OK, thanks. I'll keep that in mind for when I'm ready to go inverted.

it jumps a little but nothing major...it kind of hiccups, it doesn't take off or anything....one thing, the tail locks in much better with the higher headspeed ......noticably more...and this is on both my helis....flight times in normal with FF(as opposed to constant hover) are longer and use less maH...that I'm sure of......but I haven't timed an entire flight in idle up yet...I'll do that the next nice day as I'm curious myself....so far I've been flying around a little in normal then I'll switch to idle and fly like that.......when I did the flip, after the 3rd one I had to land so I could breath again...so it wasnt an entire batt...I'll post some numbers as soon as I can

I found that right now I want a little better control in wind no rise or fall with short gusts. Wont a higher headspeed help instead of sitting out there with extra positive pitch.

WoW......

I dont think any curve is going to help out much with the sudden uppie / downie's short of going to a heavier bird.

I is best to teach yourself 0 pitch at mid stick and use a decent V curve like 100, 90, 100.

I dont think its a good idea to be switching back and forth from Idle to Norm. Else your going to plant your heli big time some day.

On the flip side I dont want to tell you how to fly, everyone has to learn at their own pace but in the near future you will have to take the plunge as you progress.

Rick

Gyronut are you saying switch it on the ground and keep it in idleup at all times.

I guess what I want is could you explain your flight procedure as far as takeoff, flight, and landing? Throttle mode normal vs idleup. I have been flying pretty much normal mode all this time cause I don't need negative pitch anyway the heli will fall on its own..But I am wondering if my fear of idleup is hurting me in the long run.

I use Normal just to get into Idle 1.
T Curve is 0 to 90 at mid stick.
P Curve is 0.

Idle 1
T Curve is 100,95,90,95,100
P Curve is +/- 10.

I start in Normal until reach mid stick then switch into Idle 1 which puts me at the bottom of my T Curve and away I go.

Eventually this is the setup you will end up with once your palms stop sweating and you are comfortable.

And yes its on the ground when I switch.

And yes you need neg pitch. Gravity works great when you reduce the throttle , but it also kills your HS which is a bad thing.

Dont change your setup just because I think its thing for you to do, you just cant have your cake and eat it to.

Set your Sim up as I have described above and see what how it behaves.

Rick

Thanks gyro that makes sense I thought that was about what I wanted but my palms are sweating just thinking about it.

I ended up with these settings 90-85-80-85-90 they are pretty good for me and just FF. I flew today in wind I don't feel comfortable in its right at my breaking point 12-15mph and gusty lots of ups and downs but wasn't hard to control. My gy240 was working overtime I could see it grab hold in the gusts. It seemed a lot easier for me to control than normal mode either I'm getting better at flying or idleup is your best friend on windy days. My king felt like a kite in normal mode on windy days.

I like to use 0 80 100 in normal mode with -3 to +10 pitch. Idle 1 is 100 80 100 with -10 +10 pitch and idle 2 is 100 across the board. I like to take of and into a hover hit idle 1 and go fly as I get going I will flip to idle 2. I usually land in idle 1 and flip throttle hold when the skids are planted.... That way you can use the pitch in the blades to slow the head faster....

Tom..... No "D" flying....
