Hey Andy,

Ah, Graham did say you had moved your paddles to the front most hole and seen the cyclics calm down a little.
Will have to try it myself once I'm bored with the twitchy feel

I'm having fun with mine, not tried it outside yet as it's a tad to windy for anything less than a kite but will do soon.

I am having a problem with my blaze, evrything is fine when i first start hovering, but after a couple of hovers, the tail starts drifting and gets worse as i carry on. Can anybody give me some advice as to what is wrong.

Hey eagle001_uk,

From your description I'd be inclined to say the battery maybe loosing power. This was similar in the old Hummingbird to, as the main batterys power dropped the tail rotor speed decreased to and so a slight drift could be seen.
However as we're using LiPo's this shouldn't happen until such a point that the you would be destroying the LiPo through over discharging it.

When you say it's fine to start with, how long into a flight does the tail start to drift?

Another quick idea is the tail motor, if it's been caught up a few times and/or the model has been used a lot the tail motors do wear. Inflight this could start to get steadily worse until it shows in a drift.

A couple of ideas, I'll see what other information you can give me.

As i am still learning, i just hover. I am only hovering for about a minute and after 2 or three goes then the tail starts to drift. When i first start, the tail motor starts as soon as the main rotors turn, but after that the tail motor only starts when the rotors are a bit faster or i put right rudder on.
Thanks for your help

Hey,

Your observations with the tail motor starting & stopping match my own models behaviour and so I'm confident it's nothing to worry about.

It's certainly strange, sometimes inflight as with most models using a motor driven tail you may have to make small trim changes but this normally happens towards the end of the flight as the battery starts to lose its edge.

The all-in-one control unit inside the canopy isn't coming adrift perhaps or lose? Worth checking.

I notice your in Kent, did you by any chance purchase the model from Model World or another shop? I'd be inclined to say if you can nip back into the shop and see if they can give you a better hand by trying the model. Take along any receipt you have as if it's still very new and it's deemed the tail motor is failing they will swap it out for you there and then I am sure.
The other option is to nip along to CenturyUK themselves who are nearby, phone them first to make sure it's ok and their guy Andy Hall will test fly the model for you and put right any wrongs.

Just a heads up to the general reader:

The Blaze is NOT a Century Helicopter Products item (as this forum is designated). It is a product imported into the UK from elswhere by the company that also imports the Century Helicopter Products items from the USA.

CenturyUK and CHP are two different companies and are owned by different people.

eagle001

I will bet that nowhere on the box, or on the instruction of your Blaze, will you find the Century Helicopter Products logo, name or address.

CenturyUK's Neon Blaze

Hey,

No, you will find a CenturyUK logo.

As posted on the previous page this model is not a Century Helicopters product, but a model sold & distributed by CenturyUK only.

Any update on my part to, I have since moved the paddle mounting on the flybar and the model is now much smoother in cyclic response.
In conversations with CenturyUK I think mine came from the factory in the wrong position.
A new video will be posted shortly.

I hovered the blaze until i started having problems, then left it for about 2 hours. Then i went back outside on the same lipo and tried again.... same thing happened, everything was ok for the first few hovers then tail motor started slowing down again.

Hello mate,

If you can whip it into the shop or CenturyUK HQ and let them have a look at it.
I may be wrong but the tail motor is jumping to mind which may be faulty but will require investigation.

Atleast this way you'll be quickly and easily fixed and flying 100% again if there is a problem.

Hey Mate,

No worries your very welcome.
Taking it to one of the above is the best option, that way someone can test the model and repair/replace if need be.

Let me know how you get on.

Hey,

The tail motor is my first port of call as well, the previous Hummingbirds and any model infact with a motor driven tail all suffer with tail motor failure over time.

Thanks for letting me know your being looked after and sorted out, keep us informed how it goes.

Put a new tail motor on today as the last one totally packed up, still got the same problem. I was wondering if there is too much power going to the motor causing it to overheat and possibly burn out.

Hey,

I've had one go down, but then again I did have a little ding with it when I flew round behind a tree and the radio link got broken

How many flights did you get out of this one before it stopped working? It's not impossible that you could have got a not so good one out of the packet and I have not had any negative feedback from others flying Neon's so I'm inclined to think the latter.
