Well I just got out of the hospital after some major surgery. Couldn't stay away from the field. My flying friend picked me up and helped carry my stuff since I'm not supposed to lift much. Didn't get too wild what with the pain killers and trauma going on. Well the nice weather, fresh air, small exercise and comraderie of the others at the field really made me feel much better, even if I did move around pretty slowly. My eyesight wasn't exactly full strength either (didn't expect that). Anyways, just wondered if anyone else had some R/C therapy stories. For some reason, youse heli flyers are a special breed.

good to see ya back into it , take your time ..

tried to fly a week after getting out the hospital for back surgery, the L4/5 disc was removed in 93 .. like you the weather was warm and clear in the weekend mornings ..

thruth is the hardest part for me was just to holding on the transmitter and looking up, could only fly for 5min at a time without post pain setting in or being tensed up .. it seemed for a while all the little things we do like starting the heli, torquing some screws, carrying the stuff around etc... we take for granted become very difficult at times ..

I knew I had to get over it real soon .. yes it was therapy of the heli kind in addition to the normally prescribed therapy sessions . took about a month to get into the swing of helis and things .. 3d was not part of the therapy schedule during this time as this would of gotten me all tense up in pain again .. so it was slow and easy for about 4 weeks .. physical therapy lasted for 2 years .. hehe - didn't know a gallon of fuel could last so long ..

hang in there it's only a momentary setback for now .. you'll be back in the swing too ..
