no experience here, but the 401 is the most typical choice for the 3dmp-e

If you dont succeed the first time, try and try again. With heli's keep on trying!

It seems that it is a great gyro for the 3dmp after reading this post:
http://runryder.com/helicopter/t251...ht=csm+720+3dmp
Don't know if it work with the Volz tail servo
I have a 3dmp with a Gy611 and an other with a Gy401 and I must say that there is a big difference with the 611. Maybe I will have 2 x Gy611 soon

obviously if you got with the 611 as g2 stated you will want to dump the volz tail servos and use the 9256 and a quick uk server tail mount.

I know he has had some issues with the volz tail servos going out on a few ocassion, havent had this happen to me yet, but I am pretty sure he flies his alot more then mine.

I agree though the 611/9256 I once had mounted on mine is far superior then the 401/volz servo combo

If you dont succeed the first time, try and try again. With heli's keep on trying!

I already burned 2 volz motors on 5.4 and 5.6 volts... then good luck with 6V
I'am no more confident with the Volz tail servo but it is only due to my bad experience. When it burned, it jammed the 2 times in a turn position, then my 3dmp continued to spin even after I cutted the throttle....

Not to get off topic but....

Does anyone have a servo recommendation for the 3DMPXL-E other than the volz servos?

I'am not sure Jan recommend volz servo for 3dmpxl-E... This a regular size servo for the cyclic on this big heli
For the regular 3dmp, there is no other choice than Volz Micro Maxx X. And this servos for the cyclic are just prefect!

OHHH! that's great. I wonder how the 9252s will work and a 611 combo for the tail. I think i will do some more research...Ron

Yes, the XL-E uses full size servos. I had the V-91 basically the sme thing as the XL-E, used full size servos. I would probably use the new JR8717's or Futaba 9451 and go with the 611/9256 for tail imo.

Instead of the 9252? Why? Is it faster? I do not know the specs....Ron

8717 are about two times as quick with triple the torque. The 9451 are metal gears vs. nylon gears as well along with quicker, dont know the exact specs on them, but better then 9252's. I think 9252's are adequate on 50 size helis, I would personally use a metal gear servo on the 90 sizes as servo tech has gotten better, just my thoughts though.

Back to the original post, I am running a 720 on my 3DMP, but have fitted a raptor 60 boom mount kit so I can run an 8700 full size servo. This was a substantial improvement on the 401/voltz combo that was on there before.

I'm pretty certain my voltage reg is set at 5.7V, but will double check when I get home.
I havnt had any issues at that voltage since fitting the reg 2 years ago.

That would do it as well, although your limited on servo arm length as its very close to the boom bracket.
As with the Raptor boom mount brackets, its best to flip the tail pitch lever to the bottom of the boom. You can get a nice straight run, and dont really need any support for the carbon push rod (I used a slightly thicker on than the standard 3DMP one)
