Actually I think its bugger all to do with being PC.

If you look at the typical population density, here in the sunny states of Europa, we have a damned sight more bodies per square kilometre/mile than the USA, Ozland or NZ. Unfortunately we have yet to design intelligent radio waves that will keep clear of populated areas.

As we have a higher pop dens, then the radio spectrum has to be controlled effectively so that we do not interfere with each other. Good grief, we can't have little johnny getting upset as his downloads of the latest MSI single gets interrupted, or the old geezer downloading Debbie Does Dallas (for nostalgia purposes!) being interrupted in the vinegar stroke as the images start breaking up.

Think ourselves lucky that we aren't in Japan where 2.4 GHz is still not legal for Aero use !!

Anyway, aren't we all glad that we have these wonderful organisations looking after our best interests ???
