DSX9 Boycott

Why don't we apply consumer power and just refuse to pay this ridiculous price! As for the testing costing so much, didn't all the dx7's have to be tested not to mention the Futaba sets. Get militant Britain and say NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be interesting to see the pricing if Horizon UK had the JR distribution rights.

Well I reckon that Horizon UK would flog it as a loss leader as they can afford to do that riding on the shirt tails of Horizon Hobby. No skin off their nose to gain market share at whatever cost.

we all thrive on competition, pity our suppliers seem to fear it.

I was all set to buy one as soon as it was released at £450, however at £550 with no servos not a chance the price cannot stay where it is I may buy a spectrum module for my 9x2 but they cant really expect to sell many at that price its just taking the pi55.

If you shop around you can pick up a 12FG for £20 less. It comes with no power issues re: EU/USA, a 14 channel Rx and loads more features, there are no latency problems with this set, Futaba claims the link is 2x faster than Spektrum, and the region coding can be reset.
No contest really!

If Mark D is right and we can get the power level adjusted here in the UK for a couple of quid, then a Far East DSX9 (with 4 dig trims instead of the X9303 with the analogue throtle trim) for £350 will (or should) be fine !

Well Guys,
I've been searching and the best price at the moment for a UK spec DSX9, that's from Macgregor, is £475 for the TX/RX Combo (no servos).
I have also notice it being offered with servos for £539, but can't be sure that this is from Macgregor.
I'm sure you've noticed that the 'Macgregor/JR' sticker tends to vary depending from its origin.

This is what it should look like to be sure of a genuine UK spec model.

I'm still holding out for a while yet before making a purchase.

I also noticed that the USA get 3yrs warrantee and at present a 'buy 1 get 1 free' offer on the RX.

If you take a look at the photo I posted, this is a Macgregor DSX9. This is the sticker a UK spec TX should have. If you Google DSX9, you'll see a 'JR Propo' sticker and also a 'O'Rileys' sticker. These are the non UK spec imports.
I've seen just the TX for £399.

I assume that any Tx purchased from abroad will still not be fully compliant with EU/UK regs and hence illegal?

What I've heard is that the Futaba type of signal is not subject to the same restrictions because of the way it works. Does any one know if this is wrong?

It would still have to be tested against the EU regs before you can legally use it in the UK. Power levels are just a small part of the approval chain...

EN 300-328, EN 301-489 Parts 1 & 17, EN60950 as a minimum.

The yanks test it to the equivalent of EN 300-440 I think and thats no good for the UK.
