Dame RED TAPE ! What ever happened to being in the EEC and equality ???

Its because of being in the EEC !!

Equality ?? Hmmm lets look.... Germany... 2 split bands on 35 MHz, France... 41 MHz...

At 2.4 GHz it gets even better !! Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Czech Republic looking at banning 2.4 GHz for RC use completely ( or so I have seen/been told). France... different power levels depending what part of the 2.4 GHz you are using, in conjunction with is it indoors or outdoors ??

Other countries seem to have different interpretations.....

( Why does all this give me a bleedin' headache ?? Talk about a pain in the Khyber ! )

What is the world coming to ?
I though the idea of RC models was to have an interesting and relaxing pastime ? It seams to be getting more complicated and less fun.
Forgive my ranting ...I think I'll just do my own thing and leave the world to get on without me. Now where did I put that ticket to Arizona ?

Some Europe wide radio standards seem to have worked GSM and UMTS for example. It's a shame we can't use them...

There are some US spec radios showing up forsale in the UK now ...watch out it has correct CE marking for use in the UK/EEC.
A non compatable UK 'CE' marking has an exclaimation mark in a circle after it !

Mike,

Regardless of the X9303 having a "CE" label on it, they are incorrectly labelled and NOT legal.

The shops (if it is them that are bringing them in) need to contact Horizon to get the facts.

The X9303 is ONLY on sale within the America's ( ie Horizon Hobbies region ).

The DSX9 that is going on sale in Singapore & Australia is NOT legal within Europe as they have not been tested yet for compliance.

Yes Mac Man I think we all know whats what now ?
I was trying to say 'BUYER BEWARE' ! I've seen X9303's on Ebay.co.uk which I was told have the CE marking, but I believe it also has a (!) in a circle marking, which makes them non UK compliant.
There are also several DX7/DX6 up for sale on Ebay.co.uk & at the BMFA website that are imports.
I even found a website where you can purchase CE stickers amoung other things.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU BUY PEOPLE !!!

I believe that "CE !" actually means that compliance exists in certain named regions, and not all of Europe. So you'd need to check any accompanying documentation etc. Of course this is necessarily correct either...

Mike Moore.

I have stopped Fretting over this CE ( i ) sticker issue.
I got my DX7 from the states because as usual everywhere in the UK had none and when they do you have to buy with servo`s.

My DX7 had the dreaded ( i ) on the sticker.
I looked at my UK purchased Futaba T7CP and to my amazement it had a
( i ).
I have since gone to model shops and the ones i have seen DX6,DX7 have ( i ) also.
The only difference is output power. If the police track me down or if at the field the guy next to me anorak starts to melt i will send it to horizon uk and have it altered (i think) for £20.

But what if you have an accident that involves damaging someones property or injuring someone.

I would imagine it would invalidate the BMFA insurance.

Yeah, I believe that the BMFA have stated that their insurance doesn't cover non compliant transmitters.
I guess if someone wants to risk it then that is upto them.

It looks like there's a whole bunch of DX7 users that have unknowingly been risking it. Got mine from Inwoods early summer

Ok what I am keen to know is that if I by a DSX9 (Australia version) can it be sent somewhere to have its power restricted when I get to the UK and further, can it be reversed when I leave?
