Hi everybody!!

I just would like to know some tips and tricks on making a more effective and easier build process for the Xtreme 50.

Anything that someone has to watch out for, or little details that you found that made it easier to build the Xtreme 50.

thank

The most important part is two take your time. Use thread locking compound, but apply with toothpick. You dont need to soak parts with it. Also I put each parts bag in its own rag and sprayed with brake cleaner to remove any oils so locking compound can work correctly. The only place I used red thread lock was on the two seesaw bolts.
Finally follow instructions to the -t on the part about setting gear mesh and you will be ok. Remember to recheck gear mesh after a couple of flights as gears wear in.

Tips

the kit comes with a paper in it with "Special Tips" on it, as I remember it mentions the fuel tubing is only for setting the heli up, not good for long use. and recommend using the hard dampners in the blade grips.
it also said something about making sure the seesaw bolts are cleaned very well and loctited.

i just finished build xtream50,and it fly very stable and good for 3D, my TIP is just follow the manual, DO NOT PUT LOCTITE on the screws firt for later engine alignment. So far fly very well no problem.

Best tip is to check the parts using dry assembly. If anything is not right don't assemble and get the fault sorted.

Cyanoacrylate tips.

A good idea... When assembling the two piece carbon fiber aileron control arms, install the bearings and link balls. Then put a bolt through the entire assembly to make sure everything is aligned properly. If you CA the two halves together and they are not perfectly aligned, the bolt will pass through crooked and the arm will not sit parralel to the frame. That will in turn give you an interaction at the swash when the arm travels through its movement.

Assemble the entire arm and then wet a Q-tip with thin CA and "paint" the edges with CA. It WILL wick in plenty to bond them permanantly. It is also a good ideo to seal the edges of all carbon fiber parts this way. It will aid in preventing delamination in a crash and also keep fuel, water, oil, solvent etc from soaking into the weave when flying, cleaning or being exposed to climate changes. (Old school 12th scale carpet racing tip)

It also makes the edges of your carbon fiber gloss black and smooth, looks sweet.

Xtreme 50 "HOT" setup

We have found this to be the most responsive and stable setup on the Xtreme 50 head to date.

1. Remove the pitch plate mixing arm 2mm spacer and replace with a 1mm spacer, should be spares in the kit
2. Install the pitch plate mixing arm in the middle hole of the pitch plate
3. Flip the mixing arm so the short 2 hole side is facing the grip, leaving the three hole side away from the grip
4. Mixing arm Short 2 hole side use outside hole, long 3 hole side use middle hole
5. Move the washout arm link "B" rod to the inner hole
6. Rod “C” from mixing arm to swashplate is 94mm
7. Rod “A” from mixing arm to seesaw arm is 28mm
8. Make sure mixing arm is parallel with pitch plate and grip at midstick (zero pitch)
9. We set our pitch to +12 and -12.5 with this setup and the heli is locked in.

Thanks for the good info Clyde...

Working on mine now setting up the head the way you suggest.

This has to be the nicest and most adjustable 50 I have seen. The parts have a quality feel a lot like the MA and CX machines I have had in the past...

Thanks!!

Yeah thats me with the Baseball cap it is actually a www.archeli.com.au cap (our local aussie forum) feel free to visit any time.

The flash tips are V's as they go so well, however I am looking forward to trying the RJX (wide Chord)blades that Phils uses as they look to go very well in flight with plenty of bite!!!

I will post setup soon
